Some Decent Ingredients But a Lot Of Extra "Stuff"
I test and review a lot of skin care products. as a massage therapist I have a thing about ingredients and that's where I usually focus most in my reviews. When you use a lot of different products it's hard to say exactly which ones are doing the most benefit, But I do know which ingredients seem to have the best results with my skin and which ones also have a good reputation... As well as the ones I wouldn't want near my skin. In the last year of focusing on my skin care, I have received a lot of compliments, so I know that it's working.Generally there are some really nice ingredients that should be very soothing and supportive of your skin health. The various extracts and oils are all known for their properties for supporting healthy skin. Unfortunately, there is a lot of fluff that could have been replaced with organic/natural materials. I didn't have any irritation when I used it ,and it absorbs well with no major residual tackiness. I think for someone who has less concerns about ingredients, who has reasonably healthy skin that just wants to support it with a good generic serum, that this would do.

Clarins New Hydra-Essential Matte Gel
I'm a huge fan of Clarins product line. Everything I've ever used from them has been fantastic, in both use and results. This moisturizing gel lotion is no exception. I wasn't actually aware of what I was getting. I thought it was a mask of some sort because I read "60 seconds to plumper skin" and I just assumed based on the tube shape it would be a removable gel mask. Turns out it's much better! It's a gel based cream moisturizer that goes on to my skin like silk and immediately absorbs completely, without leaving a single trace of stickiness or greasiness. What's even nicer is it helps my serums to absorb as well! I'm currently using several from the Clarins line in my skincare routine and I can't remember the last time my skin felt or looked so nice. I just turned 40 last weekend and I'm actually proud of my skin! I don't wear makeup anymore. Highly recommend this new moisturizing gel from Clarins. It's a new favorite of mine.

Not for me
Like many other gel moisturizers I’ve tried, this one didn’t quite work for my combo skin. I found this gel both quickly absorbing but also slightly sticky. Probably not a product I would incorporate into my daily skincare routine.

Matte gel consistency is interesting
I have slightly combination skin (mostly normal, just a little oily in the T-zone) and have used gel moisturizers before. This one is a little different though because it is a MATTE gel. It feels pretty much how I expected a matte gel to feel - if you've tried a mattifying primer before, it kind of reminds me of that texture. I've used other Clarins products before and felt like they were good quality, this one is no exception. For me, this is a good, fairly lightweight daytime moisturizer, it's great to put on before makeup because it absorbs quickly. I do need to use a separate eye cream with it as the matte gel isn't moisturizing enough around my eyes. At night, I need something more moisturizing on my entire face. That doesn't make this a bad product, it's just not right for all occasions for my particular skin type.If you have dry/very dry skin, this moisturizer might feel like it's not enough for you. But I think it's a good option for oily skin and some combination skin types.

Clarins never disappoints
The media could not be loaded. This is now the third Clarins product I've tried over the past few months, and each one is just as good as the last. I've really grown to love this brand, so I was excited to give this a go.To make a long story short, I have extremely dry skin. It can also be pretty sensitive at times. This Clarins moisturizer is super hydrating and plumps my skin right up. It's also really great at decreasing the size of my pores. But overall, my absolute favorite thing about this moisturizer is that it surprisingly works really well as a makeup primer thanks to its slight 'smoothing' effect. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the scent. Not only does it not smell the best, but added fragrance can be a bit irritating to me at times.Final thoughts: I use this moisturizer almost daily, and it genuinely makes my skin look happier. If you have a similar skin type, it's totally worth a try!

Surprised by how well I like it! Softens ALL day. Smells wonderful
I really LOVE this moisturizer from Clarins. Use just a tiny amount of this blue gel-like moisturizer after cleansing your skin. It spreads well, is absorbed without leaving a film, and my face feels incredibly soft. The most surprising thing was that it still felt just as soft and moisturized at the end of the day, even without makeup or other products. My skin also looks fresher and healthier. The scent is also beautiful. It smells a little bit like powder. Soft and pleasant. Overall, I really do LOVE this moisturizer. I frequently try a wide range of skin care products. Few really impress me as much as this one. I absolutely plan to purchase more when this is gone.

Good For Younger Skin, Contains Added Fragrance
I like that Clarins is not afraid to try different ingredients and this one is no exception. There are plant leaves/flowers/extracts in this gel that are good for preventing and soothing acne-prone skin. This mattifying gel also plumps the skin and protects the barrier. My 49 year-old skin needs thicker, more emollient moisturizing so for me this actually works good as a primer under my makeup. The one negative I have is the strong scent. I’m a firm believer that skincare products should be scent-free to accommodate potential sensitivities. Sometimes I feel like companies add strong fragrances to make the product seem more luxurious. The price seems pretty high to me although the use of natural plants/flowers may make this a pricey product to create.I love that this company uses mostly natural ingredients, participates in a fair trade program, and uses recycled material to make their packaging.
