D15 - Varta Silver Dynamic Car Battery (027)

I bought this battery for my Golf GTI Mk4 as the old girl was struggling to start in the mornings, especially on cold ones ! Rather than waiting for it to die completely and having to call the AA out, I decided to replace it whilst I had the opportunity to.I checked the dimensions of my existing battery and the amps / cold crank amps and decided to go for this one as it was a slightly higher spec and the dimensions were also a perfect fit.The battery arrived within 4 days well packaged and insulated in polystyrene. Fitting took no more than 30 mins to remove my old battery give the battery case a quick clean and fit the new one.I then started the car and it now starts perfectly, no longer struggling and no delay in starting as previously with my old battery.If you are fitting the battery yourself, remember to disconnect the negative first, then the positive terminal. When fitting the new battery the process is reversed, so the positive is fitted first and the negative last. Also take care not to short the battery when you are tightening the nuts back up with the spanner !All in all an excellent high powered battery which I am sure will last much longer than the 4 year manufacturers warranty. I would highly recommend this battery and look forward to hassle free motoring on the cold winter mornings to come :)Update - I have had this battery now for just over a year. The battery still starts up perfectly each time, the real test was a few days ago when it was -1.5 degs in the morning. Once again it started up perfectly with no problems at all. I would highly recommend this battery for the spec and price.5/11/16 - Another update. I have had this battery for nearly 3 years now. In the time I have owned it, I have not once had any issues with it starting, especially during the winter. It is an excellent battery and still holds its charge very well. I have also given 3 or 4 jump starts to my friends/colleagues in that time, and it is still going stong. I would highly recommend Varta for anyone looking for a reliable and study battery without breaking the bank.

Order for Varta D15 placed early afternoon with Battery Megastore, battery arrived promptly nextday-afternoon looking spotlessly new with brush silver terminals. With my previous cheaper failed battery the car sounding like it was weeping while the engine turned over to start, with the Varta Silver and its rather large 610A crank (its driving a 1.6 petrol engine) the engine now sounds like a bear clearing its throat and starts with just one cough. All lights also seem brighter.My Battery HistoryOrginally had a Bosch S4 which served me well for 11 years but whilst still holding a charge was no longer able to crank the engine. Given the age of the car I replaced it with a cheaper brand with the aim of getting a few more years before retiring the vehicle. The cheaper battery failed after only 1 and a half years. Appears my vehicle sitting idle for 3 months caused it to develep voltage fault, which caused airbag fault resulting in failed MOT not to mention £70 diagnostic. I replaced the cheap item with a Varta D15 (UK ref 027).WHY VARTA?Varta use the Same Powerframe technology as the Bosch S4 and S5 range only are around 10-20% cheaper. The Techinical specs are exactly the same when comparing Varta Blue - Bosch S4/Varta Silver Dynamic - Bosch S5. Perfect fit in battery tray - as per detailed description

An excellent quality battery at a very good price. Size was accurately described so it fitted perfectly. The two vent seals need to be removed( I used a woodscrew to pull them out) they are to stop any spillage. It comes charged, so when fitted, car started first time. These are first rate batteries(our last one was at least 8 years old) and at this price they are a steal!

Product was received in excellent condition. After installation the battery worked perfectly. Highly recommended.

£££s cheaper than Halfords etc. Performs well over the few weeks I have used it. Car starts better than it ever has over the last 4 years. Quality item

The problem was to find a copact battery with large cca to fit into a small space.This did the job perfectly, having taken care to measure the space it would have to fit in beforehand it dropped in easily using the sturdy handle mounted to the top, no scratched knuckles for me!Next the moment of truth, a turn of the key and 5.7 litres of Americas finest burst into life instantly.One thing I always do before fitting new batteries on cars is to trickle charge them first as you never know when they were fully charged and if they have been stored on concrete they will discharge themselves.

Bon matériel à première vueUn poil cher...L'emballage artisanal fait penser à un composant qui a gardé son étagère longtemps...L'hiver servira de test.

Cette batterie (achetée chez RDLB par l'intermédiaire d'Amazon) et qui a été recommandée par Amazon fonctionne correctement sauf qu'elle n'est pas adaptée a mon véhicule (308Hdi 1,6l 110Cv). En effet cette batterie se loge dans un caisson plastique trop grand pour elle -> Le caisson est prévu pour une batterie E11 ou E44 (278mm de long). Du coup, elle flotte dans celui-ci. La batterie d'origine (Varta) est surdimensionnée par rapport à la puissance du moteur (pour moteur 2l). Evidemment je me suis rendu compte du problème après avoir tout démonté. Sinon transport parfait bien emballé dans polystyrène. Merci.
