It's easy to take apart and put back together. Not like those big Thomas the train sets, 6 foot long, that once you put up have to stay up. Or like the chuggington sets that my husband had to put together because there's no way a kid could do it. this set has just the right amount of fun extras, noises, moving parts, while maintaining the fact that half the fun for a kid is building it one way today and a different way tomorrow, or laying all the tracks down the hall because he wants to. And it's easy to take a part and put away. no adult intervention needed. The train moves by remote AND can be played with without it!!! And all those cheap extra train track sets here on amazon, fit it. Awesome.

My 4 year old nephew adored this for his birthday present. He is very into trains right now. He didn't want to wait to get home to open it.

My 3 year old picked this out for his birthday at a local toy store and he LOVES it. We didn’t even realize at the the time that the train is remote controlled! There are multiple interactive pieces including a mine with a boulder that falls automatically when the train goes through, a crane, and a smelter. It even comes with a themed mat to set it on. The tracks can also be mixed and matched with wooden ones. I have to admit, this is a really cool, very well made set. The kind I wish I had when I was a kid.Be warned, the set takes 7 AAA batteries. 3 for the train, 2 for the controller, and 2 for the light-up smelter.
