Generally, works well
I am a DIYer and saw reviews/comparisons for the Walabot and decided to take a chance. In practice, I have found it quite easy to use although calibration, whilst necessary, is a bit of a bind at times. It has found most items that I have used it for but, just occasionally, it fails to sometimes pick up things that I know are there, but need to know the exact location. All in all for a DIYer, like me, I would recommend the Walabot.

It takes practice to get to grips with this innovative product
I've seen a few Walabot reviews and can understand why they are less than positive, the device is very different in it's approach to finding hidden infrastructure by using RF, but persevere, it takes practice to interpret what you're seeing particularly in expert mode. As a professional installer, I've used a number of stud finders from premium brands with mixed results. When the Walabot arrived to market I was not prepared to spend £200 unless I was guaranteed exceptional results, fortunately over time, and as production scaled the price has dropped, so for me it was around £80, when you consider the competitor prices this was not to excessive. So what is it like in the real world? I think the best answer as a professional, is that any device that can prevent expensive mistakes is a bargain at £80, although Walabot don't claim that it will work on traditional wet plaster walls I've found that "concrete" does seem to give you an indication of hidden infrastructure. Do I rely on this exclusively, well no, experience is a learnt trait, but if it gives me pause for thought before put a fixing in, or breaching the wall and miss that non-conforming live cable route then great, is this for the casual DiYer? maybe not, but it's still a bargain if your in the trade or willing to spend time with it.

Great little tool
I'm an amateur DIYer and have bought a lot of tools to help me find suds wired pipes etc. I wish I had know about this previously as all the others have been a disappointment . It's easy to use and has found everything I've been looking for. I started out testing on a wall where I knew where everything was and it was 100% accurate . I then used it on an unknown wall and discovered a cable I didn't expect or know about . I'm very happy with my purchase I've been drilling sawing and hammering away with a lot more confidence and no surprises.

FANTASTIC IDEA - BUT DOESN'T WORK - NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
In principle this is a superb idea but in practice, it simply doesn't work. It was very easy to set up and everything was in the box that was supposed to be there. First step is to calibrate the scanner to the wall (concrete setting). 15 minutes later it is still calibrating and my arm has gone dead! I really want this to work, so try again - calibrated in 30 seconds ! Hurrah. Right lets try around a light switch. Oh no wires - must be magic light switch. Swapped over to my Bosch D-Tect 120 which found the wire immediately with no calibration ! Well lets try it where I want to drill (I'm a professional curtain and blind fitter). Oh no! there's a wire there (above the window ???). Unlikely, so scanned around and couldn't trace where the wire came from or where it was going. Double checked with Bosch - no wire and green light (safe to drill). Drilled, no problem. So, it's back in the box and on it's way back to Amazon. So pleased I bought it from Amazon and not direct from Wallbot, as I understand that getting refunds from them is like extracting a tooth from a tiger !

Not for professionals.
This is my second device as the first one stopped calibrating after a couple of months.I've now had this one for 7 months and now it doesn't detect anymore. I've even tried putting pipes and wires directly in front of it but nothing. Shame really as I think this could be a great product if it lasted. I'm going back to my Bosh for now as after 5 years of ownership it's still working. If your a keen diy enthusiast then this device is great (abit exspence for diy) but if you're the building business like myself then maybe consider other products that last.

Works well, great for tool bag
My main reason for purchase was that I had lost a diagram for downlights for a customers house, hoping this would help me identify beams and cables in a new ceiling.I couldn't be happier, I was able to identify everything easily and accurately.I have used a few times for locating beams in drywall as well and again it works clearly and accurately.

Work brilliantly in a New Build House
Bought as moved into new build house which is all Stud Wall and Dot n Dab.Was having a nightmare putting up shelves in kitchen in right spaces where I new wires/pipes ran. This accurately found them and allowed me to fit shelves securely around them. Also the same for hanging my guitars etc.Would definitely recommend
