Better than expected but (update)
May have to replace or modify the spring latches that intermittently fail to keep the door closed, I adjusted the curve of the door and it’s appears to be holding for now, but I only used in a small area with two loads in the spreader. We’ll see…..My first concern was the construction of the mesh used to form the sifting barrel. The mesh body is expanded metal of sufficient gauge and not a light weight woven or welded wire. I also choose this one for its powder coat and angle bracing on the handle. Again these were better than expected, more than sufficient for my needs and of reasonable gauge and strength. I did see a used spreader on FB market place for $80, but I’d still need to drive round trip 1hr + and not sure about the quality. I could also diy my own spreader or even a separator tumbler for recycling topsoil but the minimal cost savings would translate into build time and effort while this will hopefully do both including reducing or eliminating the effort needed for hand spreading and raking. There are a few minor blemishes on one of the barrel sides and the fork needed a bit of persuasive bending to hook up, but the overall design and hardware was well planned out for no tools necessary for assembling. I’ll be happy to get a few or more years out of this tool.

Inefficient and Flimsy
I recently purchased a Lawn & Garden Spreader for spreading compost, peat moss, and other materials on my lawn. Unfortunately, my experience with this product has been nothing short of disappointing. I was initially hopeful that this spreader would make my gardening tasks easier and more efficient, but it fell far short of my expectations. In this review, I will provide a thorough and detailed account of my experience, highlighting its numerous flaws and shortcomings. Let me share with you why I believe this product deserves a one-star rating.Design and Construction:The design of this compost spreader leaves much to be desired. The use of a 24-inch green dresser drum made of flimsy metal immediately raised concerns about its durability. The anti-rust claim is simply not true, as I noticed signs of rust appearing after only a few uses. The overall build quality is poor, with loose fittings and a general lack of sturdiness. It is evident that corners were cut during the manufacturing process, resulting in a subpar product.Functionality and Performance:When it comes to spreading compost, topsoil, mulch, or peat moss, the performance of this spreader is abysmal. The metal roller fails to rotate smoothly, causing uneven distribution and leaving clumps of material in certain areas. Despite adjusting the settings as instructed, I found it impossible to achieve a consistent spread pattern. This not only wastes valuable resources but also leads to an uneven and unsightly lawn. Furthermore, the spreader struggles to handle heavier materials such as manure or dense peatmoss, often clogging and requiring frequent cleaning. The overall functionality of this product is severely lacking, making it a frustrating and inefficient tool to work with.Durability and Longevity:As mentioned earlier, the claims of anti-rust properties were quickly disproven. Within a short period, rust spots began to appear on various parts of the spreader. This not only affects the visual appeal but also raises concerns about its long-term durability. The weak metal construction and loose fittings suggest that this spreader will not withstand regular use over an extended period. It is clear that the manufacturer prioritized cost-cutting over producing a reliable and long-lasting product.Ease of Use:One would expect a lawn and garden spreader to be user-friendly and intuitive. Unfortunately, that is not the case with this product. The instructions provided were vague and poorly written, leaving me confused about the proper setup and operation. Additionally, the adjustable settings are not precise or accurate, making it difficult to achieve the desired spread rate. The lack of clear guidance and the unreliable performance of this spreader added unnecessary frustration and complexity to my gardening tasks.Customer Support:When I encountered issues with the spreader, I reached out to the customer support team in the hopes of finding a solution or receiving some guidance. To my disappointment, my experience with their customer service was equally disappointing. They were unresponsive, slow to reply, and offered no practical solutions to address the problems I encountered. It was evident that they were not genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction or resolving product-related issues. This lack of support further diminished my confidence in the brand and its commitment to quality. Conclusion:In conclusion, the Lawn & Garden Spreader Compost Spreader Peat Moss Spreader with Anti Rust Metal Roller for Lawn Topsoil Mulch Topdressing to Spread Manure Peatmoss Dirt on Top Using Dresser Drum Size 24 Inch Green is a product that I cannot recommend. Its flimsy construction, poor functionality, lack of durability, and inadequate customer support make it a regrettable purchase. It fails to deliver on its promises, leaving users frustrated and dissatisfied. If you are in the market for a compost spreader, I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a more reliable and effective alternative.

it works great
I like how well it works. The coverage is sufficient. Photo is a single pass. The big pieces simply remain in the roller and are easily discarded. First I thought Oh, No, I cannot load it from the pile, it will apply on route. So I decided to use the wheelbarrow. Simply place it open and dump compost in from the wheelbarrow. I will recommend it.

It beats shoveling!
After many seasons of top-dressing my lawns by hand shovel, I gave this spreader a try. Now I'm upset with myself for wasting all that time and effort over the years doing the job by hand. This way, you fill the drum with soil and walk around the yard. One tour lays the soil, the second trip spreads the grass seed via a separate fertilizer spreader and then you finish the job with a top coat of soil in this drum. Easy!

Ok, not great.
So I hoped to get the bumps and unevenness of my grass mitigated by using this to spread screened topsoil everywhere. The cylinder is wide enough that I could dump my wheelbarrow directly into it, which was nice. But the latches that hold it shut are garbage. I could only pull it not push it, or the door would swing open dumping all my dirt in one spot. One latch always popped open every time. I’m not sure how much it helped me spread the dirt evenly in the lawn. I also had to go back over everywhere and rake the dirt into the grass. So I really don’t think this tool actually saved me any time. I’d just use a shovel and rake next time. Maybe it would work better using something other than just top soil. I’ll also echo the thoughts of other reviewers saying the assembly instructions are garbage, though anyone should be able to piece it together.
