The Words We Keep

Amazing
I devoured this book, I didn't know what to expect but was immediately blown away with how it deals with mental health issues. One of the topics that I felt is really important that not a lot of people, let alone books talk about, is along picking disorder which I myself have, and saw so much of what I struggle with in her. I cannot rave about how emotionally this book hits, it deals with so many types of mental health and nails each one It's the type of storiy that sits with you and makes you think about it weeks later.

When words and art collideâŠ
âYou know, itâs not the worst thing in the world to have someone know who you are.âLily hasnât seen her sister, Alice, since the Night of the Bathroom Floor. She canât bring herself to visit her at Fairview Treatment Centre. Straight A student Lily thinks she needs to keep her school life separate from her home life if sheâs going to stay afloat. Sheâs desperately trying to hold her family together.âAs long as I keep moving, whatever got Alice canât get me, too.âLily hopes to stay as far away from Micah, who met Lily at Fairview, as possible. Sheâs scared of what will happen if her home life intrudes on her school life. This seems all but inevitable when Lily and Micah are paired up for a class project.âWeâre combining our classes to explore what happens when words and art collideâWhile this book delves into some really dark places, at its heart itâs about acceptance. I enjoyed spending time with Lily and Micah as they got to know each other. The process of Lily learning to stop hiding was painful at times but ultimately rewarding. I adored the guerilla poetry.Books that include characters struggling with their mental health can sometimes feel like a balancing act. They need to be real enough to be relatable but there needs to be some hope too. The author definitely doesnât shy away from the hard stuff here but there are some rays of sunshine as well. The charactersâ thoughts and emotions have an authenticity that are clearly drawn from the authorâs lived experience, discussed in the Authorâs Note at the end of the book.âYou are enough. Right now. Just the way you are.âContent warnings are included on my blog,Thank you so much to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read this book.

An Authentic Read
This story felt very real to me- like it was written from the heart. As I read, I was right there with the MC, Lily, to experience her highs and lows, and I was right alongside her to fight the monsters.I loved the character, Micah, for always trying so hard when everything seemed against him, and Dad for being human, and Alice for being Alice.I loved the idea of The 100 Acre Wood. The premise of the story, Life is not perfect, and people are not perfect but if we help each other, we can make it.I can embrace that.

Raw, Emotional, & Real
This book really hit home to me as I myself suffer from mental illness. Mental health is such an important issue and it is easy to get busy with day to day life and NOT remember to take care of yourself. Please take time for you and please know that if someone around you suffers from mental Illness we know the toll it takes on you too. Thank you to my support system. I would be lost without youđđ âđŒđđđŒđI loved every part of this book so much. It was a beautifully written story about Lily and the issues she is facing after witnessing her sister Aliceâs breakdown. There is so much that Lily needs to address after this but she keeps it all bottled up inside. (Havenât we all) The way the author shows her inner thoughts that she struggles with was incredibly done. I loved Lilyâs development throughout the story as well and Stewart was really able to create such a realistic and relatable character.I donât want to provide any spoilers so as far as characters and story line go I want to stop there but I have to say this story felt so raw and deeply poetic. I felt it in my soul.Thank you @erin_n_stewart for such an amazing book! I would also like to thank @tbrbeyondtours for providing me with an e-copy to read and review.

So.. truly... Amazing
I need time to process. Whilst I take that time - read this book. I don't know how she crawled in my head but I feel healed and hurt at the same time. I think I should take some baby steps of my own đ

Important topic
I really liked the book. At first I was a bit unsure about the storyline since itâs pretty intense. But it was perfectly executed. The book shows how important it is to talk about mental health and that you are not alone even tho it can feel like it. I liked all of the characters since they werenât perfect but well written. But you shouldnât read it if you are struggling with intense mental health topics.
