Silverline589683 Band Clamp 4m

This is the default band clamp available on-line, it's well designed and made from strong materials; the main frame is diecast metal. It's a bit fiddly to use on a four-piece mitred frame as everything slips and falls off until things start to get traction and tighten up but practice and experience would help I'm sure. However as a clamp this is a good tool that works effectively and seems to be built to last. The strong woven band is long enough for some pretty large projects.My main reason for writing this review is to alert shoppers to the fact that the (exact) same product is sold at a wide range of prices, often over twice the lowest. I bought at the lowest price I could find, carefully checking the photos to make sure it's the same generic product as most others. This review is for that low-price item.

Like most Silverline products, this is not up to the task, plastic is of poor quality and as others have noted it does not have the clamping force. Quite flimsy in manufacturing and operation. I have another clamp of the same design but unbranded and is definitely of better quality.If your only looking to clamp small products like picture frames this is just OK, for anything heavier don't bother look for something more substantial.

Broke the first time I used it. Little feedback as to how much tension is being applied by tightening the clamp. Plastic guides to the belt snapped off and pinged off across the room. Hopefully still able to finish the job with it but disappointed with build quality. Sadly, in this case you get what you pay for, and while it is cheap, I should have found a clamp of better build quality even if it would have cost a little more.

The bands were a bit stiff at first and difficult to extend, but they eased after a time and I have successfully completed a number of projects with the product. Although made of plastic it seems to stand up well to amateur use, and it shows no sign of deteriorating, but I have given it four instead of five stars because I don't know how long it will last. For the price, though, it seems to be a sound buy at the moment.

the problem with this is simply that the clamps that stop the strap slipping while you tighten don't actually clamp. if you need to clamp a frame tightly then forget about this. This is a prime example of how bad Silverline tools really are, there is obviously no product testing. It appears that they take someone else's good idea and think 'We can do that' without any plans whatsoever. They just look at a picture and think 'How hard can it be' I will never touch another Silverline product. They are never fit for purpose, cheap, inferior rubbish!

Made a couple of small/bespoke Garden Gates and this was perfect for the job. Very pleased !!

Excellent product did exactly what I needed it to do. Sturdy and easy to use, I'm really pleased with it.

Used to glue frame together and kept it together until set. Excellent. Easy to use
