The Harry Hill Movie [Blu-ray]

Harry Hill's got a good line in celebrating the mundanity and silliness of British life, while adding-in a big dollop of randomness and the surreal.Somehow this formula transitioned from the back roads of Channel 4's late night comedy schedule, to Saturday prime time on ITV.I still don't entirely understand how he got away with that.But I do know that lots of people find him hugely entertaining. Even my mother, who hated things like the Pythons and Spike Milligan because they were "silly". Yet Harry Hill on a Saturday teatime somehow bypassed that. There's little doubt that he both has talent and knows how to exploit it. And the man himself, in real life, seems decent and upstanding.If you like the TV shows then you'll probably love this film, which creates a story within Harry's world complete with musical numbers.On a technical level there's actually more here than you might think. The visuals celebrate 1970 and 1980s Britain, for example. As such they're faintly reminiscent of Pulp music videos back in the late 1990s. And look out for the use of colour, because nothing is ever drab in Harry's world. Houses in an ordinary suburban street are painted with colours you might expect in Tuscany, for example. This is rather lovely.As mentioned, it's always a celebration.For kids this film has the same appeal as a Mr Bean movie. It's just pure silliness and moves from scene to scene before you get a chance to think too much.But for others, Harry Hill can be a bit like eating a seaside ice cream. I mean, it's very nice for the three minutes it takes to devour it. But you wouldn't necessarily want to spend 90 minutes eating ice cream. But kids, well, they'll eat as much as you put before them.

Got this to watch with my children (8 & 12). They loved it, and couldn't wait to tell other relatives about it, then watch it with them. There were some more subtle asides for the adults too. Cracking surreal & ridiculous humour, and just what I wanted. Harry Hill is brilliant.

Great characters, mesmerising special effects, intriguing plot, and a wonderful hamster

I loved this film! It's zany, crazy and good fun and very much in the Harry Hill style of comedy. Julie Walters is fantastic as Harry's Nan. Definitely one of my go to 'feel good' movies.

If you complain about this movie, you've only yourself to blame. I mean, just look at it. It's obviously not going to be Schindler's List. It's stupid, it's cringeworthy, it's dreadfully out of touch, but despite that, there is something to it that sets it apart from the innumerable crowd of cash-grab British TV comedy movies of recent years. It's almost an homage to that old British sort of seaside, cabaret comedy. The lurid colours, the wild setpieces; sometimes it really feels like you're watching a dream, or perhaps a waking nightmare, depending on how much you enjoy the film. Enjoy it for what it is, but don't expect it to be something it's not.

Best kids movie I have ever seen - if you've got slightly alternative humour this will be right up your street. If not, you may not get it. Jim Broadbent's cameo role was comedy gold, the Magic Numbers were hilarious and Julie Walters was sensational. "What's Jesus backwards?" is one of my favourite comedy lines of all time. Watch it!

I really like Harry hills TV show. But this was just a horrendous movie, I love daft comedy's as a rule but this is one of them movies that is far from funny. I have laughed more watching zippy and bungle on rainbow. i am going to give this away for free as really don't want it in my collection.Thankfully it never cost much to buy on Blu ray .I reckon kids between 6 and 10 might enjoy it, But i personally couldn't handle anymore than 45 mins and had to turn it off.If only i had some hair on my head i might have been able to pull it out with watching this garbage .Sorry Harry but this was Dross !!!!!

Our 12 yr old son enjoyed it but we didn't . Julie Walters was the best thing in it.

A fun, silly movie! A movie you can just sit back, relax and enjoy without thinking too much! From chickens to giant hamsters you won't get bored. If you like English comedies you'll like this especially with Harry, Julie Walters and Matt Lucas. How can you not love the fabulous Julie Walters! I'm hoping for a Harry Hill Movie 2.
