My Holi: Colors of Cheer (My Festival Series)

I absolutely loved this book! Indian background helps me understand the story better. But my son understood and even questioned the right things in the midst of the story. The illustrations are mind-blowing. Holi has a scientific purpose. It is celebrated to avoid the seasonal flu and allergies. A whole story about demoness is weaved into the little minds to spread good values in them. Not only Holi helps us stay physically fit but also every aspect of our well-being is taken care of. The power of good over evil, the gratefulness we should have for Mother Nature, to feel positivity and spread good vibes is the take-away from these amalgamation of stories.Towards the end of the book, the actual meaning of the holiday is explained in great detail. Why the fire is lit? Whats the importance of each and every material used. How it brings about happiness and teaches values is a great thing to learn.I haven't come across any other Holi book that explains things so entertainingly that my kid is glued to it. He loved to see the pictures and the story was so captivating for him. He can read on his own but he wanted me to sit and share his excitement while reading it. Very few books have that impact and this one's one of them.

My son loves learning everything about Indian Festivals and Indian culture. The story takes you on an adventure around India, exploring the meaning of the Holi festival. We celebrate Holi and live in USA, it is wonderful that there are books like this that help our kids experience the culture around the world.I appreciate that the author added a vocabulary that’s easy to understand for kids,I think, it is a great bonus and helpful tool for educators.

The story explains the answers to all questions that your child might have regarding Holi. I love how the stories are weaved seamlessly explaining all beliefs, customs and regional traditions pertaining to this colorful festival. The illustrations are full of life and emotions. The book will surely spark some interesting conversations with ur little ones. Books like these are a must to have for expat families like us. You will love it like we did!! :)

The printing and design of this book are awful. Doesn't do justice to the illustrations which are quite nice. The printing is off the page and because of the layout of the text, a lot of the text gets cut off. Whoever wrote this book does have small children. The illustrations are for a child under 5 but the text is for a child over 12.

Exactly what I wanted, even though I never knew it.

I simply love this book for my kids. It tells the kids rituals at holi and also the deep meaning situated behind the traditions. It is simply worded and has colorful illustrations. I will highly recommend this book for all Indian parents.

This book I read to my 4 year old and it answers every bit of question. It covered everything about Holi and it connects easily to my daughter when in books kids are asking questions about Holi.Illustrations are beautiful and enjoyable story by Every age of child. It covers all aspects of the festival!
