Peat Moss Spreader 24 inch, Compost Spreader for Lawn Care and Garden, Metal Mesh Basket Topdressing Roller, Spreading Dirt, Mulch and Soil

We bought this to spread compost in the yard. It is sturdy and very well made. We used peat moss. It spreads very evenly. If I had anything negative it would be that peat is very fine and a bag was used up very quickly because the holes are big. If a less fine compost were used it would likely spread farther. So we were pleased with this tool in terms of how well it is made and rolls.

I used this for over-seeding my lawn, spreading some peat moss over the new seed. It worked exactly as advertised. The welds are cheap, but so far have held up as I have spread approximately 15000 square feet of mulch About 8 large blocks/bags) Paint seems to be holding up as do the door locks. I was surprised that the hinge wasn't really attached rather it rests in the tabs but again it has no failure.

The blue powder coating is very durable. It was easy to fill and provided a nice even coverage of seed and was easy to roll.

It holds about a third of a bag of Peet moss and I was applying 6 bags as a seeded my lawn. Halfway through the second bag, both hinges broke off, so I had no way to close the door and I ended up going back to the wheelbarrow/shovel/rake method that I bought this to avoid. Oh well. When it worked it was great and saved lots of time, but in the end it was a waste of money. Junk. Avoid.

I used this spreader to distribute topsoil. After about 10 fills, the metal tabs that slide into slots that hold the open gate closed, started slipping resulting the in spreader to open and dump the contents. The tabs need to have a lip or needs to be longer. I just threw it away as it is junk now.

This spreader did work and spread well, but still allowed a lot of bark material to pass through its open slats.

used it for spreading top soil. very pleased with this.
