Moro: The Cookbook

The book that turned me on to cooking
First this book isn't one of those books crammed with glossy photographs of scenery. Though well designed and illustrated this is a book of recipes, leaving off only to explain simply and clearly regional ingredients or techniques.Second, these recipes are beautifully simple to follow - and so far, despite being an inexperienced cook, I've yet to find a dud. Thanks to Moro I am now allowed to be alone and unsupervised by my wife in the kitchen! Most guests have rushed out to buy the book or note a recipe. Although this is a 'celebrity' cook book in that the writers have a high profile London restaurant, it couldn't be further away from the over-fussy, over clever recipes so often found. True, some of the ingredients can be a little hard to find, but the authors have provided a very helpful glossary of UK suppliers for these. In my case a recent weekend in Barcelona had me spending a small fortune in the local deli shops! The best thing I can say about this book is that it worked wonders for me and I now feel confident and able to experiment in the kitchen. Thanks Moro!

simple and an absolute joy to use. tasty too
This book is an absolute wonder to use. Recipes are tasty and really easy to follow. The book is highly commended for good reason. The books main focus is on recipes from Spain, North Africa and the Eastern Med. the recipes are simple to follow and an emphasis is placed on quality ingredients. There’s even a section detailing the best places to hunt for the best ingredients based on your location. The pictures throughout the book are excellent and make it great to look at. There are also elements of history and explanation on particular areas of cooking. You'll become a better chef while using this at the same time as producing tasty meals. All in all, this book is a fantastic insight into the spanish and moorish cuisine offering recipes that are both simple to execute and a joy to eat and prepare. Five stars. If you found this review useful in any way I’d be super grateful if you clicked the “helpful” button below to let me know :)

Yesterday’s sensation!
It was an enormous surprise some years ago to stumble on the original Moro restaurant in Canterbury where the interface between El Andaluz and Morocco was so wonderfully celebrated, and I looked forward to learning more from the book, which, by now, must be 20 years old.Unfortunately, Claudia Roden stole that particular thunder in the meantime, and much as I respect the authors and their work it is no longer breaking new ground for The average food-lover.In fact, more emphasis on the Maghreb and its food and culture might have been better appreciated: if Sam & Sam ever get the time or the mojo, perhaps anew and enlarged edition would be better appreciated.

Moro Cookbook 10/10
Amazing cookbook!!! I would highly recommend this cook book. I have made so many of the dishes and they’re easy to follow and delicious to eat. It’s a great book whether you’re a meat eater, veggie or pescatarian. The paella with monkfish recipe was a really hit. Enjoy the book and you won’t be disappointed 10/10

One of my favourites
I bought this cookbook a couple of years ago and I still get it down off the shelf and find new ways of doing things in it. The recipes are tasty and colourful. I love the layout of the book and the images. I also have the other Moro cookbook which was so good I took the risk in buying this one. I have not been disappointed.

Great cookbook
I have to admit that I haven't actually cooked anything from it yet but intend to. My daughter had this book out from the library and I was so impressed by it I decided I had to have it and ordered it right away. The recipes, one after another, were very very appealing. The photography is wonderful. Being 15 years old, the style is refreshingly different from cookbooks of today, which are so predictable in their layout, type etc.

When you feel like something quite different...
superb - wish it was available for kindle..... but one of the best cookbooks out there... this book is filled with passion and I can stop rabbiting on actually - it's already famous. If you've been to a mate's house and they've prepared something that's at once clever and simple and all kinds of different... chances are it's from this book.
