It is a fantastic movie, whether you are interested in Johnny Cash or not!
It is a fantastic movie, whether you are interested in Johnny Cash or not (well you should!).Of course it cannot tell the whole story as we are talking about 50 years of career and far too many facts, however it does give you an idea of what a great person he was, acting is also great from both actors and from all "side" actors too. Some little scene which seems normal are not for the ones who knows the small detail, i.e. when Cash takes the cigarette butt from Luther's hand whilst asleep on the bus.Overall a very enjoyable movie worth the rent and purchase too!

Prompt delivery, great film - shame about the 5-1 sound
Prompt delivery. It's a pity the Blu-ray manufacturers don't include stereo sound as a sound option. The 5-1 system on a played back on a sound bar rather than 5 speaker systrem leaves dialogue almost inaudible while the music is deafening.

Good film for music lovers. Poor quality DVD.
Loved this film when I saw it at the cinema when it first came out. Looked at it from a different perspective watching it with my 11 year old son on my Dad’s Birthday, much darker.Unfortunately the quality of the DVD wasn’t great. I bought it as a gift for my Dad’s Birthday present, but it jammed part way through, fortunately after some time it got past the jam & we were able to watch the rest of the film.Unfortunately due to health problems & the approach of Christmas & my son’s Birthday I didn’t get it returned in time for a replacement or a re-fund.

A Brilliant Biopic
Walk The Line covers Johnny Cash's life from his rough, early beginnings to his legendary Folsom Prison gig and his on-stage proposal to June Carter.Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are beyond exceptional in their roles as Cash and Carter and fully deserve the plaudits and rewards they received as a result of the film. Not only is their acting near spotless, but the tough task of covering the two legendary artists in song form is nailed, as proven on the film's soundtrack which I also highly recommend.Whether you're a Cash/Carter fan (diehard or casual) or are simply intrigued by biopics such as this, then take a punt and (at the risk of sounding cheesy), walk the line.

A pleasant surprise
I was surprised by Walk the Line. I wasn't expecting much (the usual bloated and over-the-top showbiz biopic a la Oliver Stone) but when I read all the 5* reviews on Amazon (and at less on here than it would cost to rent), I decided to give it a go. The film tells a simple story of life and love. It does well to steer clear of sensationalism and portrays Johnny Cash simply as human. Yes he goes through some bad times, and for a while wallows in self-destruction, but it doesn't descend into all out misery. There is always hope. Both central performances are strong and you are left with a real taste of what these people were like. Brilliant, stubborn and vulnerable. Like most other reviewers, I've also since started listening to Johnny Cash's music and find it (as well as the film) warm and inspiring. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable biography of Johnny Cash
I enjoyed this biography of the first part of Johnny Cash's life, tracing the key events in his life from childhood through to his second marriage, with June Carter. Good acting, good music and a very sympathetic portrayal of "The Man in Black" make this, to anyone who likes country music, an enjoyable film.Of course, should you not like country music, then steer well clear!I did find it slightly too long, the feeling aggravated by the fact that the film starts with a snapshot of a famous moment in his career before going back to fill in the details of his life, but then when we get to that same moment during the film, there is still more story to tell. Not that the remaining part of the film wasn't interesting but directorially it didn't strike me as quite right - hence I'm allocating only 4 stars.

A very heart-touching story. Excellent actors in an excellent movie.
I am not a person that remembers actors' faces, but Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon will remain engraved in my memory for their excellent performance in this movie. I am a Johnny Cash fan and I really think they couldn't have found a better actor for his part.I get easily bored by the telly, and I usually do some work on my laptop while watchig a film. Now, >>this film<< I watched with interest from beginning to end. And then - I went on watching the extra features (the 10 deleted scenes with commentary). There is a negative review that criticizes that the story was far from Johnny Cash's real life. Well? It's still a great movie! Totally worth your time.

Great music, staging, acting, what more do you want?
The acting is top quality, and the framing of the story of Johnny Cash is beautiful. I've watched several times - if you're a JC fan you will too :)
