Great family board game
I play board games alot with friends and my kids have just started to take an interest and we played this together and everyone really enjoyed the game. My son who is six got very excited before we even started at the choice of characters and played as a wizard which he had lots of fun. Although he couldn't read it wasn't a problem he could make out the numbers he needed to roll for each class and spell and it was good for practicing his maths skills adding up loot as he went. The game is simple enough kids can play along with adults and flexible enough that adults can play tactically although success at battling monsters it largely down to the luck of the dice so I wouldn't count on wining every time. My daughter who is 8 found this a little frustrating that she played a rouge who struggled in combat situations with most monsters over level 3 (needing to roll 12 with 2d6) when her brother was killing dragons in the level 6 dungeon picking up huge Rubys and winning the game so there is still a learning curve at least for them. The game is more balanced for more experienced gamers who like to plot and scheme there way across the board it is definitely possible to block other players advances if you have a game with more players. Great introduction to d and d and if your more familiar with playing d and d you might recognise a few names of the preset characters available.Hope this helps anyone planing to buy for family. This game this would make a great addition to any collection.

Dungeons!
Dungeons! is a pretty fun board game to play solo or with friends. The objective of the game is basically to travel through the dungeon, enter a room, beat the enemy, get the loot and repeat. The first to get to their required amount (10,000 gold for the rogues and cleric, 20,000 for the fighter and 30,000 for the wizard class) and get back to the main hall wins. Each character class also has certain areas they are better in so they can gain more loot but this can also makes it harder, Rogues are better in areas 1-3, Clerics in areas 2-4, Fighters in areas 3-5 and Wizards in areas 4-6.The game is simple to play but things can change in a moment due to combat. Certain dice roll attacks by the enemy can make you drop anywhere from one piece of loot to pretty much all of your loot and send you back to the start of the game, which then gives the game a game a sense of urgency as you try to race back and get your loot but now all other players can also race to that room and try to steal the loot you dropped if they can defeat the monster in that room. The solo games are basically the same but you can play certain modes such as a treasure hunt mode in which if you die twice its game over. A speed run mode to see how quickly you can beat the game. My favourite is the hunting mode in which you take a level six enemy card and thay enemy will relentlessly hunt you while you try to acquire your loot to win the game. Once you kill that enemy you then replace it with another so that you're always hunted. The game is simple to play and with certain dynamics changing the game in a moment at times it can be pretty fun to play with friends.I would recommend this game.

Introducing D&D to my children
Oh how I was fascinated with the exotic D&D game during the 80’s. Yet there was a total lack of fellow players on the continent so I had to satisfy my D&D-curiosity weeding through the manuals, expansion sets, and painting the figures.I stumbled upon some recent pre-fab D&D board games for the family, but the age advise was a bit above our oldest. So I wasn’t’ quite sure yet. Then Amazon suggested this game .. published by Wizards of the Coast and carrying D&D logo’s. A little research showed that this was a modern version of an 1970’s early board game variant of the much more comprehensive later D&D games, which was good enough to me to hit the ‘buy’ button. The colourful set benefits from nice cartoon-style art and a sturdy playing board with printed instructions about key events like game turns. Also the game is fairly easy to set up and start playing. However it’s also a low-cost entry set as the rest of the presentation and material could have been done better. Most notable are the flimsy cardboard character pieces that lose balance frequently. Some plastic figures could have been included to lift the appeal of the set. The monster and treasure cards are colourful.. but a bit small - we got other card and role playing board games with beautiful, high quality cards get that much enhance the game play and visuals. The many pop-out card board pieces are annoying, as they are tiny and each have a 2 cardboard ‘pegs’ on the side from tearing them from the large sheet. Then the box; when not playing all the tiny pieces and many level cards just get mixed/messed up in the box. We hard to prevent from this with little seal bags, so that with the next game we can start straight away without having to sort the miniscule parts for 15 minutes. This just doesn’t compare well with most modern sophisticated game boxes that come with trays to hold and sort the various elements. Also a bit of a shame that the game comes with 2 ordinary dice and is not based on a more magical and characteristic 12-sided dice. The game is fairly simple and straightforward. Which is good for families with young children and beginners in the genre. You move around, confront a monster, roll the dice, take the loot. The first person to collect enough booty and to escape the dungeon wins the game. There are male and female heroes to play. But there is no role-playing involved and you don't fight the other players - which is probably for the better. Yet the rules and strategy are simple enough to be understood by children. So the game is a great introduction to more sophisticated, complex turn-based roleplaying games. And on this aspect I was not disappointed at all; it’s great to play this with my daughter and to raise her interest. The flipside is that game play is fairly basic. And it only leaves you with a whim of the D&D experience. Moreover it can get quite repetitive after a while. The instructions are fairly good, and rules are included to play the game on your own. But despite the quick start guide you’ll have to complete most of the instruction sheet before you can start playing (maybe without the more sophisticated wizard and spell rules). It took me about 20 minutes to get ready to play. Nevertheless I was still left with some questions like how to end a combat turn. And we ran out of treasures in the low levels initially. But this was because we failed to notice the subtle difference between ‘rooms’ and ‘chambers’. If not clear; I found a very relaxed, grainy YouTube video on ‘How to Play Dungeon! with Ross Maker’ - one of the original players/ constructors of the game. Brilliant.Despite some of the issues I’m still overjoyed with this set and couldn’t wait to start playing when it arrived.Update - we’ve played it more often now with the childeren. And especially the youngest one, aged 6, finds it very exciting. He has dreams about it after a session. Cousins and friends that visit are also drawn into it - we had a joint family ski trip recently where the childeren all wanted to play the “dungeon game” all the time when not on the slopes.. Consequently I’ve ordered 2 more sets since as birthday gifts for some of them. And we’re now upgrading to the more recent D&D stand alone adventure Wrath of Ashardalon - really weird and unexpected how my nerdy, unfulfilled teenage D&D desires are now gratified by my super enthused children and even my wife..!

Great for family game night
This is an easy version of a dungeon crawler. My son who has started to not like family game nights asks for this one every time we play. It's easy to pick up and learn some basics of D&D.

Very fun board game which I find more fun playing alone!
So this was a very fun game if you like fighting monsters getting treasure and getting to pick from a wide range of character (my favorite being Drizzt) then u will love this game. You can also play solo which I find more fun cause there are 3 modes in solo- Treasure mode (I won't talk about this and the second one) timed mode and the most fun being Monster mode in monster mode you shuffle and draw a level 6 monster then take one of the other hero tokens to represent the monster (I have a taken a miniature) and then it hunts you! My review overall is this- very fun game which you will enjoy playing with a group or playing solo.

Molto divertente

Simply excellent.
Easy to learn. My 6 year old boy loves the monster cards, and my 8 year old girl is addicted to it now, and we've only had it for 2 days. She wants to play constantly. It's a bit repetitive, but that is what solidifies it in the minds of kids. When they feel like they can predict whats going on, and can understand a game...they love it.The 4 different classes, this allows even advanced players to strategies which levels of the dungeon to go towards, to get the most treasure quickest.I would say that depending on how many good board games you've played, the perfect age would be 8 years old. The monster cards are beautifully drawn, the gameplay is fun and mimics a move, attack, and loot style of game play. Its perfect training for the more intense D&D in future. Very fun and addictive for the whole family.
