Mind, Body, Spirit - Action
I am a complete yoga novice. This review is written accordingly, I hope it helps. At the time of writing I am 49 years young, in good health aside from high blood pressure recently picked up by my doctor. To address the latter I'm making all the recommended lifestyle changes, but was advised to consider a yoga program as part of cardio, strength and flexibility work.I purchased this DVD on the basis of the other excellent reviews. Although designed for beginners, I've found the exercises pretty challenging and some moves currently impossible(!) However it's good to have something to work toward and this indeed a high quality presentation. I estimate it will take me months to properly execute some of Yogi Ashokananda's teaching, but after persisting now for 2 weeks each session is already feeling less clumsy and awkward. From a practicality perspective, the complexity of the routines does require close attention to your TV. Accordingly, following the teacher's pace is challenging at first. The goal of course is to learn the moves and transitions to the point where you are just concentrating on Yogi Ashokananda's vocal coaching. Once the moves becomes familiar, you start to take better note of the breathing and other subtle instruction associated with an exercise.Yoga Ashokananda grew up in India and is clearly a very experienced teacher. The video and audio production are excellent, with minimal distraction around him. Each DVD contains 3 practices lasting 20 minutes each. There is supplementary material focussing purely on breathing and relaxation.Good luck!

So fun, but not for beginners
Okay, this was literally so fun and I really want to do it again. However, this is NOT for beginners, incredibly deep stretching on the first Wake Up video and no instruction on how to modify, and I could honestly picture someone injuring themselves. BUT it was so fun and something I really want to go back too, as I have done Yoga with Adriene (which if you're literally a complete beginner use her! She is amazing at really breaking everything down), so it will be amazing to have an instructor with a different style and approach. I loved the workout honestly, I just didn't feel it was advertised properly

Refreshing techniques with profound effects
A refreshing offering. The routines are broken down into sections so you can choose what you feel like doing and create your own session. Yogi Ashokananda goes back to his roots and offers something a little different to every other yoga DVD out there, passing on first-hand knowledge of treasured yoga and profound meditation techniques that you won't find anywhere else.

Awfull.. For experienced yoga enthusiasts only!!
This is an awfull DVD for beginners. Maybe flow yoga is the most difficult form of yoga, hence this might be a good beginners DVD for those already well practiced in yoga generally.. Either way, it's way too hard for me!I have done yoga before.. Years ago.. Just wanted something to help me get back into it, and build confidence! Feel worse after attempting this! There is no explanation of breathing.. It dives straight in with words I have never heard. Eventually the guy says what the word means, by then you've kind of guessed anyway! There just isn't one element of this DVD that I would say could help someone begin with yoga! Given the title of the DVD, this is very misleading.. And disappointing! I would return it if I could but my DVD player broke so it's a while since I purchased it!

NOT for Beginners!!! Good otherwise!
This really isn't for the beginner despite what the description or some of the other reviews say. It's wayyy too fast paced, it dives right in, the instructions come in thick and fast and the positions are really not tailored for the beginner. Neither is the guys teaching style unfortunately. If you have done a fair amount of Yoga before this and know a fair bit of theory and already know how to breathe with your movement etc then this is the DVD for you, it has some great meditation stuff etc too. It just really wasn't what it appeared to be and was way to hard for me to follow at my level of experience and flexibility! Haha.

My favourite start to the day!
I have only used the first routine in the AM session as this involves only floor work (the ceilings in my house are too low for anything else). I love this session as it really helps stretch and soothe all my muscles which has helped to relive tightness from lots of triathlon training. It has especially helped reduce a bit of back pain I have suffered from recently. This session is just such a nice relaxed way to start the day.
