Rit Colour Powder Black

I have used this product my whole life to restore the black washout that occurs over time. Get rid of the faded black jeans. Reliable and cheap.

I have a new love for upcycling clothing that I dont wear because I dont care for the color on me. I found if you dye it another color you actually love it makes that garment a favorite. I use it in a stock pot filled with water and the dye of choice heated til almost boiling hot. Then turn it off and insert item to be dyed. The longer you soak it the deeper in color it gets. Then I pour the whole pot into the washer on a quick cycle on cold to set the color. Can add a little white vinegar to help set it also.

The first time I used a box of this dye, I was trying to turn a pale green pair of jeans black. I used the bucket method, and it just barely turned them a splotchy shade of dark grey. Not exactly what I was going for. I'm sure if I used two packs of the dye for the one pair of jeans, it might have turned them even darker, but frankly I don't really think its worth my time or money to try dyeing them again at this point, since the jeans were originally purchased on clearance for $5.The second box of dye was used to darken some faded black items. I love my cotton-blend black leggings (maybe a little too much) and I just wanted to revive their color. This dye made them look fresh and just as bright as they were when I first purchased them.To reiterate, this dye is great if you're dyeing a faded item that once was dark black...but one box of dye probably won't turn an item the darkest color of black if it's currently lighter than grey.
