Home Remedies
This book covers a broad spectrum of ailments and illnesses and is a really interesting reference point. It's also not so bold as to presume it replaces your doctor - every ailment has a box explaining when you should see your doctor instead of trying the homeopathy route. I've tried advice from this book for various things and enjoyed the results. It's the kind of book you have on your book shelf forever and refer to from time to time over the course of forever more.

I'm a doctor but still use this book!
I bought this book second-hand & can highly recommend it. It is full of useful tips for practically all common ailments (& some not so common ones such as jellyfish stimgs!)& makes use of household items to provide treatment options. It is great to use when illness strikes at anti-social hours & can save a phonecall to the doctors or NHS Direct in the middle of the night. I also use it to give common sense advice to patients. It is an american publication but still very useful for us Brits!
