Claber 8990 Automatic Rotoroll Wall Mount Swivel Garden Hose Reel with 66-Feet 1/2-Inch Hose

Easy to install, sturdy, my husband loves it works really well, just read directions on how to control rewind. Don't expect a normal stream of water this hose is smaller then regular hose but makes it easier to get around.with it and less stress on arms and back. We are going to get another for our back area now. The bright orange does pop, so if you don't want to see it, you will see this one. But this is much sturdier then the green ones on the market where I have read they only last a year, this one will last much longer so better quality.

I'm have a serious problem with the retracting of the hose. Initially it took a few minutes for the hose to fully retract back totally. Now it cam no longer fully retract the hose fully, 3 feet of the hose still hangs. Great concept but no ready for market. Clabber should provide a manual retracting backup.

I purchased this reel for a greenhouse. The quality of materials is very good, but I have a few gripes with it.#1- The water pressure is GREATLY reduced due to small-diameter hose. Actually, it's perfect for watering small, delicate plants because of this, but I would NOT recommend it for typical outdoor use unless you have a lot of time on your hands.#2- Claber includes an extemely crappy water nozzle with the reel. No problem, I'll simply put a new one on, right? WRONG!The nozzle has a permanently attached quick-connect-fitting on it, so if you want to put a different nozzle on the hose, you have to purchase another (male) fitting. Only these fittings are not "standard issue" and are incompatible with other quick-connect fittings. You'll have to purchase a double-ended male hose adaptor in order to use a different nozzle, plus washer(s).Come on Claber! Send an extra 50-cent male fitting with your $150.00 reel, OK?#3- The cam-lock is temperamental, and rarely locks or unlocks without several attempts. You have to be patient and careful with it.#4- Thought the small diameter hose is easy to drag around without knocking plants over, it is NOT kink-free. Once again, you have to be patient with it.In a nutshell, if I were to buy another hose reel, it would most likely NOT be this model, though I am not unhappy that I bought it.

Edit: After two years, the ability to retract is greatly reduced. (I might look to the Gardena model instead for the next one).Most hose reels are pretty ugly and very few are self-retracting... this covers both of those: it's pretty and self retracting. We're purchased two for each side of the house. The hose is 1/2in (or the metric equivalent), so it does not have the same flow as a huge heavy duty hose, but it's more than enough for watering, car washing. The aesthetic design -- as with most Claber products -- is very modern and considered, which for us was a huge bonus, but they also work very well and make general hose use much easier. You /do/ have to be careful about yanking it out the whole distance (which I'm pretty sure they warn you about in the manual), but keeping this in mind, it's a winner. It comes with and works with quick-connect fittings that are fairly standard (the same plastic ones I picked up at the home center).Pros: Easy to use / Attractive / Works with other quick-connect fittingsCons: Expensive / Care needs to be taken to not pull it out too far -- get one longer than you think you'll need
