Nice features, but material gets "chased" away due to jaw design
Very good quality construction! The loppers are extremely sturdy, and very lightweight. The oiling system is very well designed, unlike any I've seen on any other pair of loppers. However, after making some test cuts in bamboo, I'm a bit disappointed that the material seems to get "chased" away due to the shallow curved profile of the jaws. In the square profile test cuts I've made so far, the "notches" in the anvil which are supposed to keep the material stationary, aren't engaging at all. I suppose if I cut on an angle, the notches may engage, but I'm not used to my cuts being constrained in this way. Because the bamboo cuts after it gets chased away from the pivot, moving (and eventually cutting) closer to the ends of the jaws, it makes it seems to take additional effort to cut, due to less leverage. Another pair of loppers I used (ace brand) seemed to cut with relatively less effort, because material would stay tight close to the pivot. This pair does seem more durably constructed. After using for an afternoon to prune a juniper bush, with excellent results, I'm upgrading my review to five stars. The softer juniper wood, unlike the bamboo, had no problems being chased away by the lopper jaws. I found the jaws were able to get in some tight spaces. And when it came time to reduce the lopped off branches to fit into a yard waste toter, the loppers went through the branches on the ground like a hot knife through butter. The light weight of the pruners, and ease of carrying around contribute to making them a joy to use. They are not the largest loppers with biggest capacity, but are very handy. The cutting edges stayed sharp and are wearing nicely.

Great yard/gardening tool!
Very comfortable to grip. The blade was sharp to cut through even the thicker branches. Great product!

Expensive, but worth it for keen gardeners or regular users
Genuinely made in Germany, these are pretty expensive loppers, which I was lucky enough to get in Amazon Warehouse for an absolute bargain £20. Much like my old Berger shears they're beautifully made and look like they'll last; the feel and action also suggests they were designed to do a job, not just look pretty. The high grade aluminium handles succeed in helping to keep the weight down, which allows my elderly and arthritic mother to use them for a bit, while the blades make very light work of any sensible subject matter. I can't compare them to much as the only other loppers I own are a very elderly and 4 inch longer CK pair; the Bergers definitely have the edge but it's a slightly unequal comparison to be fair. I did use a cheap new pair while helping a neighbour last year, which again wasn't really a fair comparison, but it did serve to remind me that you get what you pay for.

Can recommend this Berger without reservation
Had 2 Fiskar shears that the blade & jaw tend to spring apart after cutting large branches. This allows fibrous strings to remain in the gap even though the blade is sharp and hang the shears. The Berger doesn't have this problem because it uses a forged rather than stamped blade & jaw that is 66% thicker steel than the Fiskar. The Berger also provides an oil groove hole for lubricating the pivot. The disadvantage of the Berger is its cost is 2.5x the Fiskar's, but to me it is worth it. Can recommend this Berger without reservation.

Schwache Leistung vom Hersteller.
