Brilliant pencils
They are expensive, but once you have used them every other pencil seems like a poor alternative. The rubbers on the back are superior too. Great for writing and doing crosswords. I use the Matte ones for drawing. And! The wonderful scent of cedarwood every time you sharpen one. Lovely.

The King of Pencils
Is a pencil just a pencil? I have to say I used to think like that but I’ve been drawing for several years and tried a variety of pencil makes – Tombow, Derwent, woodless, mechanical. Loads of types and they’re all different. I attend a life drawing session every week and on one a friend gave me a Blackwing 602. She explained that she’d had to buy a box of 12 because she couldn’t find them sold anywhere individually. I liked it so much I bought a box of 12 myself. It’s a great sketching pencil and has the ability to draw lightly (like an H or HB) yet produce dark lines (like a 2B). It’s a real hybrid pencil, smooth to use and glides well over the paper. I use 170gsm Artway Studio Cartridge paper and it’s the perfect pencil. Another excellent feature is the rubber, which can be moved out as it wears and performs like a proper rubber, not like the rubber tips on those school HB pencils. It’s well shaped and a great asset to the pencil. It also stops it rolling off an uneven platform! The pencils are quite long at 20cm compared to others (Derwent are 18) so make sure they’ll fit in your pencil case and I like the fact that they come in a robust box with a nice design. I think I’ll stick with this brand for the foreseeable future. I like it a lot and I think that even at over £2.25 per pencil it’s worth the expense. Give it a try.

Best pencil in the world!
Fantastic smooth, effortless, highly enjoyable writing experience! This pencil is why I don't use my reMarkable tablet that much. I've given away so many of these and everyone loves them!

A must have for all artists!
These are probably the best pencils ever made. Great quality product and packaging.A few good things to point out about these pencils:- great graphite formula allows smooth use with little effort- the body of the pencil is lacquered and feels great to touch.- the eraser is removable and can be changed (included, but can be also bought as packs)- the eraser housing is slightly wider than the body of the pencil, to prevent the pencil from rolling away.Recommended: Good quality pencil sharpener to be used with these pencils (for example the "STAEDTLER Noris Design Tub Sharpener")

Fabulous pencils
These are not cheap but boy are they nice! A lovely smooth feel and very wide tonal range. I was sceptical for the price, because for a simple pencil they are not cheap (although this is the cheapest I have found them anywhere), but I am totally hooked and would find it hard now to go back to another pencil.

Good pencil
The Amazon side of this purchase was perfect. Packaged well, delivered on time etc...It is difficult to compare these pencils to any other simply because i wouldn't actually call them pencils. I would much rather refer to these as a thin crayon with a wooden handle. They do indeed produce a much darker line with very little pressure. This is desirable for me as my hand/wrist can get a bit sore when using a standard pencil for too long. The bad thing about these is that even though the blackwing 602 is the hardest of the bunch of "blackwing" pencils I still find myself having to sharpen these very often. Again though, this might not be a bad thing for a lot of people. I only used these pencils for writing and doing maths work so I can't say how well they'd be for drawing. The eraser in this pencil is for me anyway, just a gimmick. The eraser works as well as any other pencil eraser I have ever used. It is cool that it is square, but this only helps it not roll of tables.I am happy that I bought these pencils and I would wholeheartedly recommend these to anyone that wants to try them. But something like a pencil is so subjective that it is impossible for me to really say that someone will enjoy it, you just really need to try it for yourself.

A pencil is a pencil? Not when it's a Blackwing 602.........
I have always used Blackwing 602's both for my job and at home. Why would I change to another brand when it does all I require?
