Modelling and Sculpting Animals (Dover Art Instruction)

A classic for any sculptor's library
As somebody who makes plaster busts, I can't really allow this book to have only one star, as it seems to have done for the previous decade! Anybody with a true interest in modelling/classical sculpture should read this book. Lanteri primarily concentrates on the forms of the horse, lion and the bull. He also considers armature, modelling, plaster and working in relief. There is plenty of text to read and not so many pretty pictures, but hey, this book was written for serious students interested in learning their craft.

Perfect for anyone interested in animal anatomy, not juts sculptors.
An old book (first published in 1911) which still retains value as an aid to animal anatomy. This was a present to my wife, who studied anatomy many years ago and is now starting to sculpt. She loves the book, and says it is worth the money for the quality of the illustrations alone. It helps that she is into sculpting horses, as there are lots of pages devoted to them - also cows and lions. Good value, great book.

Modelling and Sculpting Animals
This is a modelling tutorial from a master. The depth of info on bones and muscular structure is fantastic.

Limited in scope
This was fine - if you wanted to sculpt one of the animals featured but I was looking for more general guidance
