I occasionally have to take opiate pain killers. One of the most common side effects of opiates is constipation and this becomes a major issue for me if I have to take them for more then a day. I initially tried DulcoEase which is made by the same company. DulcoEase contains Docusate Sodium which is a more gentle type of laxative called an emollient laxative. Emollients simply allow more water to be absorbed into your waste. However, this seemingly had no effect on opiate-induced constipation, at least for me.So I tried Dulcolax as the active ingredient Bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative and is much stronger. Needless to say, constipation is now no longer an issue.Just remember that stimulant laxatives are strong and your body can become dependant on them if used for extended periods of time. Unless you have a serious case of constipation, I'd recommend trying either natural remedies like fibre, plenty of water and prune juice (actually quite effective) and then an emollient type laxative before trying something like this.

Always works for me. I have to take codeine pain relief which makes me bunged up regularly, and I find out of all laxatives these are the most effective. Good price for the number of pills

I read somebody took 2 as advised and had no reaction. Well, they do work Some people need to take 10 some 15 if one is large and with a big stomach. They stiffen the gut so passage of poo is easier. Without Dulcolax many would carry around a stone of poo all day, what a way to live, impossible. If you need pain killers then they block you so you need fruit, veg, and Dulcolax. Some GP's will pay some refuse but they are wrong. Constipation is worse and dangerous.

These are very good if you are having problems caused by prescribed medication.

The first night I took these I took one just before bed and was up at 4am with stomach cramps. They only lasted a coupe of minutes before the tablets had effect and I went back to sleep. The second night I took around 7pm and didn't wake up to any cramps but when I got up in the morning I was ready for a good clear out! They certainly work! I have one tablet each time and they've worked as described. Great value for money too compared to others I have tried and had no effect.

I have suffered from constipation for many years, one of these every other morning together with a stool softener pill at bedtime clears my system effortlessly. No more agonised straining, works like a bombshell....do NOT hang about !!
