Proof of ignorance in the workplace, WEMO product does not work on their app, but only for APPLE??
WHY, do you create a "SMART SWITCH" that you sell everyone on your product and app. Now that you have grown, or have less intelligent people in your company; either way you expanded to allow the automation the work. GOOGLE, ALEXA, and APPLE. THAT IS GREAT, AWESOM!!NOW YOU HAVE A WEMO SWITCH THAT ONLY WORKS WITH APPLE? I have android and i cannot do anything with this smart switch until i get an apple device! WHY, would you do that, well knowing how you been marketing your products, to sell YOUR product, "WEMO", and i have to have an apple device to use it.That means APPLE bought WEMO! Otherwise, why does APPLE have priority over your own product? Seriously, i cannot setup your WEMO smart switch on the WEMO app! Then it is NOT, i repeat, NOT A WEMO SWITCH!! This is fraud; regardless of your name being used for something else, because you allow it? MORESO, FRAUD on the fact of you are not selling what you are advertising. Is this a WEMO SWITCH? Then why does it not work for wemo app? Answer those questions, WEMO, BELKIN, APPLE, CHINA, WHOMEVER OWNS this joke of a company; i got ripped off from this! A short window to return products, not knowing "ONLY FOR APPLE HOME KIT"! Obviously it is my fault for not reading the word "ONLY" on the box after i ordered it online with AMAZON that it did say apple home kit.You know what else says this, all the other SWITCHES YOU HAVE IN GEN2 that works with your WEMO app along with the other services!!AGAIN, WHY DO YOU HAVE A WEMO SWITCH THAT DOES NOT WORK ON THE WEMO APP!!?!??!??!????I bought 8 of these switches, installed all 8 switches, only to then find out about these "WEMO SMART SWITHCES" only works with APPLE HOMEKIT. NOT ALONG WITH APPLE, GOOGLE, AND ALEXA LIKE IT HAS BEEN; ITS EASIER TO DO A SWITCH AROUND TO SCREW OVER YOUR CUSTOMERS!! I SURE DID!I have 20 other switches; IF NOTHING IS GOING TO RESOLVED OR I GET INCOMPETENCE SERVICE FROM WEMO, I AM UNINSTALLING ALL THESE SWITCHES.It will be only a matter of time before the switches will no longer work because belkin will sell wemo to some other company and now have smart switches that are dumb! Am i talking out of my buttt or the fact i have a wemo switch that does not work on the wemo app! That is the "RED FLAG" there, the start!SERIOUSLY, WHO OWNS WEMO? IF APPLE DOES NOT OWN WEMO, WHY DO THEY HAVE PRIORITY OVER YOUR PRODUCT? ALSO ON A PRODUCT THAT YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANYMORE!?!?? HOW IS THIS IN FAVOR FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT BOUGHT YOUR PRODUCTS, TO GET YOU WHERE YOU ARE TODAY, ONLY TO GIVE A US A BIG MIDDLE FINGER?

Worked seamlessly with Thread smart home network
This works fast and reliably with my Thread/Matter-based smart home network. I use an Apple TV 4K as my Matter device hub. It is noticeably faster and more reliable than my older WiFi-based Wemo switches that sometimes hang or take several seconds to execute an ON or OFF command, and sometimes do not respond at all.

Wire terminal screws strip out and requires two taps to activate in 3-way mode. Do not buy!
Just for the record, I am a big WEMO fan, with over 40 of the Gen 1 switches installed in my house for the last 4-5 years. These new switches are a step backwards for WEMO. They redesigned the wire attachment method on the back of the switch, they no longer have wires (flying leads), instead they have terminal screws like a normal switch. I was excited about this, seeing that this would help with eliminating having to stuff the additional wires from the switch into the electrical box. Unfortunately they are not well supported on the inside and strip out way to easy! I stripped out the first two switches trying to attached the wires., 4 switches out of the 10 that I bought were stripped. When the screw/nut get stripped, the nut on the inside of the switch becomes free to move around and shorts against the electrical board on the inside of the switch and burns the switch. Once stripped, the $50 switch has to be replaced, a really poor design which they have to fix. I would not recommend this switch for this reason.Another reason I would stay clear of this switch is that WEMO does not tell you, but when you put this new Thread designed switch in a 3-way configuration, the switch requires TWO taps to activate, which is very confusing, and not intuitive. My family made me pull out the ones that I did get to work out after a few days because they hated having to hit the switch twice to get them to work. The third reason I would steer clear of this switch is that there is no light on the front of the switch that indicates whether it is on or not. If you are planning on installing in a room where you can see the that the light is on, no problem, but if the lights you are turning on are not visible, then then with a 3 way configuration, you have no idea if the switch is on or off??? With normal switch, you can see whether it is on or off, but not with these. All previous versions had a neat light that would tell you if they were on of off, these Thread version do not have a indicator light... I assume they did this to save energy, but for smart switch users, it is a huge drawback.Of course like stated in all reviews for WEMO products, their Customer Support is terrible... Tried to contact them numerous times to find out why the two taps, but all they did was acknowledge they got my request and did nothing and several days later, they sent me an email claiming that they closed out the ticket! The Gen 1 and Gen 2 switches are great, but it seems WEMO has some work to do to get theses Thread based switches to be ready for use in out homes.

Super fast response
This switch works great. The response time for turning on/off is super fast! I have two thread switches and 8 plugs. I also have 12 original smart plugs and dimmers. I love the thread network the best and have been trying to get some thread dimmers but can't find them anywhere. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family.

Great Design, but Issue with 3-way
I love the design of this switch. I've been doing home automation projects for a long time so I've been using electronic switches for a long time ... but my old switches were based on Insteon and the original company offering them dropped the product line. I was also getting a little tired of having to have so many apps on my phone for each product. I came across an article discussing Matter and Thread. I decided to migrate everything to that environment as much as possible. So I came across this switch and on one other made by Eve that supported 3-way and Matter over Thread. One of the things I loved about both switches is that it basically retains the wiring configuration used in your house and the other thing is that is great is you only have to replace one switch in a 3-way or 4-way circuit saving a lot of money. I love the design of the Wemo switch over the Eve primarily because it uses more of the traditional style of connecting wires to the switch. The Eve uses pigtails that simply adds more wire and connectors that have to be pushed back into the box. The other thing I like about the Wemo is that two wires can be attached to each of the terminals further potentially cutting down the number of wire nuts that have to be pushed back into the box. The main downside is that you have exposed connections that are hot when you are checking out your wiring before pushing the switch back into the box. I also believe the issue for the manufacturer is that those terminals and screws on the switch mean less room for the electronics in the the switch. Leviton has come up with a new way of attaching wires with their Decora Edge line that allow the wires to be directly attached to the switch with no exposed metal that might be the best alternative of the three ... but only allows one wire to each terminal instead of the two allowed by Wemo. So comparing Wemo to Eve with regard to connections, I'll give it to Wemo for the best design of the two.I understand, the switch works fine in 2-way, but I have just installed in 3-way so far. In 3-way, the switch is totally unusable in my view. I was able to talk to Belkin tech support over the phone and they there was virtually no wait time on the call and the person I talked with was aware of the problem ... but looking at Amazon Reviews it would appear they have been aware of this problem for over a year with the first review I could find being December 2022. So the problem is that the switch requires a double tap to turn on and a double tap to turn off. But even worse is use of HomeKit ... there is the same issue there with the exception that the status of the light in the app changes with every tap. That means the wrong status will be reported half the time ... so the app can show off when on and vice versa. Also, if HomeKit thinks the light is on when it is off, telling Siri to "Turn off Lights" may actually turn the light on. Not acceptable to then say HomeKit compatible. Now, the additional thing I find unacceptable is that this problem has existed for over a year now and there is no warning in the Amazon listing stating the 3-way functionality doesn't currently work properly and is supposedly being worked on by manufacturer to resolve. So this is where the Eve Smart Switch gets the nod. I believe Eve switch measures energy consumption which means it has some sort of current sensing so it knows what whether there is current going through the switch and properly report the on/off state to HomeKit. So for now ... Eve switch wins and Wemo get award for "not ready for prime time".
