Gefu nutmeg mill is the best!
Grated nutmeg is delicious, the problem with nutmegs are they are hard to hold and grate manually. I have dropped so many whole, half or part nutmegs into whatever I am making and having to throw them away!So I bought a nutmeg grinder, a clear acrylic one, it seemed to be doing the job but it didn't do it easily and eventually gave up on me. I went back to hand grating and dropping my precious nutmegs into my hot chocolate, rice pudding etc.I looked at all the nutmeg grinders, read the reviews and decided the Gefu looked the best, didn't get it for a long time though. Finally I bought one and I have been using it daily for a couple of weeks now and it grates nutmeg effortlessly and looks good too! It comes apart to clean, and it has storage for 3 spare nutmegs when one is in the grinding chamber. It also grates hazelnuts, but I haven't tried that as I don't have any at the moment.I wondered if it would grate chocolate too.So far this is well worth the price, and if it continues for the duration of the 5 year warranty I will be a very happy bunny!Update: it's 7 years now and I have used the grinder daily and it's still as good as the day it arrived. The cap had broken, and I recently contacted Gefu to see if I could get another one and they very kindly sent one from Germany. I still highly recommend this grater and Gefu customer services.

Very good design
I heard a reference on a cookery programme to the inevitability of getting sore fingers when trying to grate nutmegs on ordinary graters, which then mentioned that there were some particular devices that overcame this problem, which were well worth having. So I looked at the selection on Amazon and thought this looked the best design - and it has proved excellent, and is neat and compact. I wondered if the word 'laser' might mean batteries, but this is not so, it refers to the sharpness of the blade cutter. Not cheap but very good quality, and I intend to get one for another family member, as we all like freshly ground spices.

A must have if you like freshly grated nutmeg.
This product is very good. It's functional and looks nice. It's easy to use. WOW! whoever thought of making this "Thank you". The pain of having to grate nutmeg is now history. I love using nutmeg and I insist on using freshly grated nutmeg I don't like the ready "Ground nutmeg" it doesn't taste the same. Now I can't believe I can use freshly grated nutmeg with the added pleasure of grating it using my new GEFU. Delivery was quicker than expected. Thank you Amazon and thank GEFU and of course "Thank you, husband" for telling me about it.

Quite a good nutmeg grater.
It is easy to use and does a good job but leaves a substantial piece of nut when the nut-gripping plate has got as close as it can to the cutter: you need something else to finish the job, such as a pestle and mortar. I was disappointed that the pin upon which the handle pivots, although well finished with hemispherical ground ends (rather than left as chopped,) was such an easy fit that it fell out. Rather than send it back, I squeezed on the pin until it became sufficiently oval to make it a push fit. Thinking about it, any sort of glue or Loctite would have been easier. Once this was fixed, it is a well-made nutmeg grater that works well. I have noticed that, at least sometimes, the thin piece of nutmeg left tumbles on the holder, so more is ground than I would have expected (a bit like turning the sliver of nutmeg on its side when using a rasp grater.)

No more grated knuckles. Lots more flavour.
This little mill has brought freshly grated nutmeg back to my kitchen. For years I have either used ground nutmeg (okay in a cake) or struggled to hold a nutmeg and use an old fashioned grater. If you love the flavour of nutmeg but you're fed up with either losing your grip of the nutmeg or grating your knuckles (ouch!) this is the perfect solution. This is a hand operated mill. The top half is designed to store spare nutmegs, whilst the spring loaded base holds a single nutmeg against the grinding mechanism. The folding handle is easy to turn, and the mill is the perfect size to hold comfortably.I bought one of these for myself and was so impressed that I immediately ordered another two for Christmas presents. One is destined for an octogenarian foodie whose hands are less steady than they used to be.

Brilliant product - the best quality and value
I love freshly grated nutmeg and spent a long time looking for one that was resilient and didn’t cost the earth. Happily I achieved both with this fab product which seems really well made - practical too as it is stainless steel which looks very stylish. Love the fact that it is compact yet still has room to store whole nutmegs

Probably the best out there
German made mill that is well engineered and designed (as you would expect) which only leaves a small dome of nutmeg before having to refill. After reading MANY reviews of various nutmeg mills at wide ranging price points this one seemed to tick all the boxes and at a reasonable price. It has a very smooth action and is simplicity itself. A strong retractable sprung claw mechanism holds an individual nutmeg in place and storage space within the main body is provided for spare nutmegs. The only thing you will forget to do is remove the small end cap before grinding which keeps the freshness in. Highly recommended.

missing a good product description with how to work this mill. please manufacturer, can you add one?
a bit fussy and why does the manufacturer add a description of how to work these things. Handy to have space for your spare nutmeg balls. Important that you have to smash your nutmeg ball with a hammer, before it will fit into the grater! It produces a very find nutmeg, but it is OK for your vegetables like that. Well made steel product. when the grater is full of nutmeg, the action is a bit " bouncy" when you have to press the mill on a surface and at the same time turn the top steel winder around. A little trick of the hands and arms, but manageable.

Excelente. Un 10. Lo recomiendo!

Ottimo macinino
Ottimo attrezzo, molto efficace.

Highly recommend, well worth the price
Highly recommend, well worth the price. We grate nutmeg every morning for our oatmeal. We started out with a microplaner and then, after many skinned knuckles, we bought an inexpensive "acrylic" grater, which was ok. But it was frustrating to refill and just meh when it came to turning the crank - a crude tool that was not a joy to use. We've been using this grater every day for almost a year - and are still thrilled with the purchase. It's thoughtfully designed (fold up crank, cap for the bottom so nutmeg dust isn't all over our spice drawer, easily-accessible storage for 4+ whole nutmegs, etc). The grinder is powerful but turning the crank is effortless & smooth -- no "sticking" like with our previous inexpensive grinder. The particles of nutmeg are quite fine - not as fine as the "dust" that the microplaner produced, but plenty tiny enough for any recipe.
