Too early to tell but...
Seems like such brilliant VFM. So many features for the price. Shame it didn't come with a interchangeable hot shoe so I use it on both my Nikon and Sony equipment!! I'm using it on an a6000, so wanted something small and light; Sony units give shadows on longish lenses so need something to cover and throw.I'm not a 'flash' person but want to get to grips with the techniques and this offers a great range of flexibility to play with. Four stars because I don't know the flash way of doing things and taking everything at face value at the mo.

A must have purchase for a Sony A7xx owner without a flash
Having never learned to use a flash properly I avoided the whole situation for as long as possible. I picked up a Yonguo YP7...something for my A7II but since it was a nikon compatible unit and not a full sony compatible, it gave less than ideal results, giving me even more reason to avoid using flash.I had an event coming up and was in need of a decent flash since there'd be shooting in the evening and at night too. My friend pointed me in the direction of the Nissin i40 and a review on youtube: [...]I watched it and was very impressed.I ordered it, got it the next day and was using it 2 days later. All I can say is I'm blown away by TTL... Where have you been all my life?!If you have a Sony A7xx camera and no flash then you can do so much worse than to choose this one. it's compact, powerful and very useful. The only real negatives are:- for HSS the flash needs to be pointing straight on at the subject. moving the head turns off HSS. What? However the flash has a builtin work around, press and hold the test light button for a few seconds and HSS is re-enabled even with the head off-angle. What's the point? Just allow HSS mode regards of head position!- the part that clips into the hot shoe has some PLASTIC pins instead of metal ones. You MUST press the release button when inserting/removing the flash to ensure long life of the part.In conclusion: Despite the flaws I love it. If it were to break I'd buy the same model again. What more do you need to know? :)

Good flashgun for the price but there are limitations.
Good compact flashgun with plenty of power for the size. I'm using it with a Sony A7ii and just needed a smaller flashgun. However, I find the dials on the back are too fiddly and hard to read especially in low light. It is also quite easy to move them without realising it which could result in an incorrectly exposed shot if you are not careful.A more expensive flashgun would have had a display with a back light I suppose. This would have been larger and pricey though!

Much better than expected!
It was a coin in the air decision between this and the Metz 44 AF1 (the Sony equivalent simply didn't have the features I wanted). Both are similarly specified and priced and I was leaning towards the Metz until I realised that the Nissin would fit in my existing case along with the camera, and the Metz would not. As it turned out, I'm very grateful that I ended up with the Nissin as the reduced size is a huge bonus, and everything else is great.Pro's:Great range, Even flash coverage, lots of bolt on bits that came included in the box, takes standard AA batteries, very intuitive to use both in auto and with manual settings. Manual controls are intuitive and non gimmicky & It's very light. Auto/TTl mode works as well as any TTL mode flash could be expected to.Negatives: Hard to think of one- maybe it feels a bit flimsy just because it's so light, but this is a pro as well.

Excellent and well balanced for Sony emount caneras
I did a lot of research before I purchased this flash gun as I have always used Sony's own flashes but for the the A7rii the Sony one's were too heavy and balance felt off. After reading the reviews I eventually purchased one. At once I like how it felt and when I fitted to the camera I knew it felt very good. But the really great thing is that this flashgun works easily as well as my Sony guns but the feel and balance on the A7rii is terrific. Results are just as good plus you have a wider manual operating range. I woul have no hesitation in recommending this flashgun.

Very good at this price
This is my first flash, so I have very limited experience with flashes.Build:Very good at this price. Smooth plastic but also looks sturdy. It's the quality you would expect from Japan.Flash:Nice, clean and a bit reddish rendering, which I like. It also recovers quickly, I mean very quick. Using SONY A7 burst mode, the flash still can catch up.Battery Life:With 4 Sanyo eneloop, it lasts for more than 600 shots in the night. I think it can do more, because at that time it still flashes.Cons:It can't work as master, which is really a pity.

Great on A7RII
Absolutely love this flash. I use it on my A7RII and its great. It has TTL and HSS and the head can rotated so can be bounced in any direction. Its small form factor and weight fits nicely with the Sony A7 series. Another great thing is that when I attach it to my camera the camera automatically turns "setting effect" to OFF and also changes the camera WB to "flash" so you dont have to remember to do anything or menu dive. It seems as bright as my Yongnuo YN560III at a fraction of the size. Recycle times are good.
