3M Headlight Lens Restoration System, 39008, 1 Kit

I bought a classic Porsche for restoration that was left standing fora. couple of years. The headlights were faded, cloudy and had a very yellow appearance. Driving at night was a terrible idea and no light output from the bulbs actually managed to get past the horrible cloudy lenses. I bought this kit and hoped that it would simply make things better. I was looking for a degree of improvement and did not expect anything more. The kit was easy to use with detailed instructions and everything you need. I used a corded drill and in total it took a couple of hours with breaks to get both headlights done. The improvement was outstanding. The headlights came out really nicely, not factory fresh, but not far off. The light output is a magnitude better and i am left wondering why i didnt do this when i bought the car in December. The kit is excellent value for money, came quickly and is easy to use. One important point is that there is more spray and slurry than you think, so please cover valuable items in your garage or wherever you are using this kit.

I was a bit sceptical at first and was worried that 1 set would not be enough as I have large headlights! I went for it and oh my word it worked out perfectly fine. Both headlights look almost like new. They were faded and yellow before! All I can say to others that want to do this is have patience and take your time, read the instructions and then read them again, probably watch the YouTube clip as well, you will be happy with the results

It really works just follow instructions and it makes it much better. But ensure you have a good spot to be in as all the bending gave my knees some problems. Would have been excellent with a few more sanding pads and a long-lasting UV protectant but it looks great and passed the inspection for the lights.

I was fearful of attempting this as not a great DIY chap, but with an MOT fast approaching and worried the lights had been compromised by the effects of years of build up, I simply had to try or buy a new set of headlight units. The result was absolutely marvellous , the headlights are in pristine condition as the day I drove away from the dealer. Thank you. A great product and great service once again from Amazon.

Dis not work as expectd

This is brilliant!! We used it on our extremely cloudy head light lenses on our BMW, and they are like new now! Very easy to use, we had tried so many ways of trying to clean the lenses before we were recommended this item! Very happy!

Bought kit to try and restore bmw e90 xenon headlight which was very badly faded and hazed to the point of possible mot failure you couldn’t even see angel eyes behind lens so first looked at buying a geniune bmw replacement but at £1000 ! Ouch so I did a bit of research and thought I’d try the 3m kit as it had some good reviews and wow the results were remarkable headlight looks 100% better clear and virtually haze free not like new but not far off just follow the instructions and you can’t go wrong the best £20 I’ve spent in ages only wish I’d taken some before and after photos

The instructions are very clear and the product works very well. There is a learning curve and it will only be as good as the effort you are willing to put in. It is a little time consuming but it makes a huge difference. This is the first time in 7 years that I have restored the headlights and it made a big difference in clarity. The picture has the left headlight not done and the right one finished and you can tell the difference easily. I just kept my drill on speed 1 and controlling the sanding was really easy. When using the 3000grit pad use a lot of water and it does a great job making it almost clear, then the compound finished it up to almost like new. I am very pleased with this kit. I do wish it came with a sealing wax for when you finish but that’s not a big deal.

I used this product and some other off the shelf liquid compounds and got a great result. This is necessary because of the sanding steps.

Premetto che non avevo mai usato prodotti simili, non è stato difficile capire il sistema per riportare i fari dell'auto in condizioni quasi nuovi, a patto che essi non siano rovinati dall'interno. Anche perché le istruzioni in italiano non ci sono, ma nessun problema, all'interno c'è l'indirizzo per un video che vi spiega come fare bene i passaggi. Comprato per sistemare la mia auto, a fine lavorazione, c'ho fatto anche i fari di un'altra auto e la mascherina di un altro automezzo, essendo anch'essa dello stesso materiale dei fari. Nella lavorazione sono stato molto cauto e, se come me non siete del mestiere, conviene prendervi tutto il tempo necessario per capire il procedimento. Siccome la mia auto ha delle cornici cromate intorno ai fari, ho dovuto smontare gli stessi per rimuoverle, ma se la vostra auto non ha le cornici cromate, vi consiglio di non smontarli dall'auto, in quanto la lavorazione è più facile. Dopo aver finito la mia auto, che sono tornati come nuovi, mi erano avanzati altri dischetti, c'ho fatto anche i fari dell'auto di mia zia, con sorprendente risultato anche su questi, che erano nella stessa condizione dei miei. Consiglio per la lavorazione di usare un trapano a corrente di bassa potenza in quanto è leggero e molto manovrabile. Tanto non bisogna fare troppa forza sennò si rischia di rovinare il faro. Uno spruzzino con acqua, per la terza parte della lavorazione e dei panni dismessi da usare come stracci per pulire durante le varie fasi. I miei fari non erano in condizioni pessime, ma iniziavano ad avere le fastidiose macchie opacizzanti, così come l'altra auto. Prodotto buono e a basso costo, con risultati eccezionali!
