Definitely an acquired taste!
Some years ago I wrote a rather bad review for this show after having screened only the pilot episode. I have since taken the time and worked my way through the first season. While I still feel that the pilot has its mostly artistic problems with shaky photography on 16mm film which looks not too competent to be quite honest I found that as the first season progressed the show got quite good production values. Furthermore, the pilot's preachiness gets toned down quite a bit and Aaron Sorkin does in fact manage to recapture what made Sports Night, The West Wing and Studio 60 so great: witty writing, great characters and, most of all, relevance. Contrary to most critics I expected more republican bashing by Sorkin and found the political arguments to be actually quitebalanced. So, in essence, I misjudged the show and I am now correcting that mistake with this review wholeheartedly endorsing this great show!

Brilliantly wrote and acted
Absolutely brilliant series some amazing stand out episodes that keep you on the edge ofyour seat if you haven't seen the newsroom and like a what can be a fast paced show, and slow and easy to follow at times covering political situations then give it a watch you won't be disappointed

excellent series
This is every bit as good as West Wing, the only thing wrong is that they only made 3 short series. Brilliant TV.

You must watch this one
This is a great show, I am amazed that it hasn't had wider coverage on tv which it really deserves. Thought provoking and immensely enjoyable.

Great series
I really enjoyed this series, written by the writer of The West Wing. Now slightly dated, but with interesting storylines and characters that develop through the 3 series. Underrated.

What a waste.
As so many have, I watched the opening scene and thought Wow! A show that will be smart, no holds barred critique on the modern world. Well, if you've watched the opening scene of the first episode of the first series you have seen its peak. Pretty quickly it devolves into Liberal preaching via a 'Republican' news anchor - I think it's Sorkin's idea of balance. It tries to be smart with stories surrounding real events, but falls short by espousing smug foresight commentary. Rather than struggling to find the truth there's always a convenient insider to save the Liberal day.Characters are quite engaging, and I found myself more interested in their struggles than the Liberal messages being forced down my throat. This show could have been so much more if it covered the full political spectrum.I'm surprised it lasted 3 seasons.

An absolute must see
Watching it for the third or fourth time in as many years. One of my favourite tv series. Very entertaining and funny whilst being extremely insightful, absolutely adore this show and canβt praise it enough
