Although this is now my favorite everyday ring, it does have a couple of flaws with the setting that keeps it from earning a 5 star rating. The lab grown stone is of a very generous size and excellent price considering what a natural stone would cost for a similar size. But the brilliance of the sapphire is mostly lost due to the setting. It appears so dark that it could just as easily be an opaque onyx except when viewed from an angle. Somehow the setting doesn’t allow enough light through to show off the glistening deep blue gemstone. The other problem is that the setting is a bit askew so that the stone has 2 rough edges on one size of the ring. A close look at my photo and you can see what I mean. It is an easier design to wear daily than a pronged setting would be, though. The ring has an artisan handmade look to it and is reminiscent of silver rings I wore back in the 1970s. Fifty years on and those rings still look as good as they did the day I bought them but my fingers have thickened with age. I expect no less from this ring and I hope a granddaughter enjoys this ring someday as I doubt I personally will get 50 years use from it. I purchased a size 8 but it fits looser than other size 8 rings I have recently purchased. Would I purchase this ring again? Yes.
