This is an interesting quilt book and history book rolled into one. The blocks pictured are 6 inches square, with a CD of patterns available from the author to help you print or resize them. The diary stories reveal much about the day-to-day life of a diverse group of Civil-War era women. Becoming involved in Rosemary Youngs Yahoo group has added much to my enjoyment of the history portion, and helped me with the actual piecing of the quilt. Her previous book is Amish Circle, and her follow-up book (just published) is Love Letters. I really loved this book. It has some really pretty blocks in it to put together a really pretty civil war quilt. So if you want to put together a theme, civil war quilt a really recommend this book.

At one point, I wanted to return because It was not what I expected. Then it was too late when I decided to return. The service with the seller was very good.

I am a quilter that loves to collect quilt books. I have a love of both Civil War and Amish type quilts, so when I saw this book, I knew it had to be part of my collection. The book is made of journal entries from woman who lived in the Civil War era. I love the style of writing they had back then, their wording and phrases are so different from what we are use to in today's world. I also joined the Civil War Diary Quilt yahoo group because I will make this quilt one day. This is my 3rd book purchase from the Author Rosemary Youngs and I am very happy with this purchase.

I ordered the Love Stories and the Diaries, both have the same quilt blocks. I was hoping for different quilt designs. I truly enjoy the Stories and letters in both. As a quilter I hoped for piecing information, they aren't there. I was able to measure the blocks and make my own patterns. I bought the book for more ideas of quilt blocks but the bonus was the amazing stories and letters of the era.

I love that this book not only has patters for quilt blocks from the Civil War, but also contains information about the lives of some of the people who came up with the pattern for the block.

A friend owns a copy of this book, and having seen hers I rushed right home and ordered a copy for me!Each block has a diary page written during the Civil War to go with it.The blocks are representative of the hardships faced by the diarists, and don't claim to be actual blocks used in quilts at that time.

Didn't expect that when I bought it but I've picked up a couple of very interesting pieces to make up my own quilt.No regrets on the contrary!

I really enjoy reading about the American Civil War and this book doesn't fail to bring alive a fascinating insight into live and experiences during this troubled time.I really enjoy reading about the history of quilts in particular about the American Civil War. This book provides an insight into this difficult time and is wonderful to dip into.

I love these stories of how quilters had to go through harrowing times in the civil war. It,s real history. The book was in really good condition and the service was quick

If you are interested in this stage of history this book is a must read. Well laid out, and I cannot wait to make the blocks.
