This is a beautiful book,a similar size to the absolute size DC hardcovers.It's not for everybody as some of the other reviews show.The Goon is set in it's own universe, in a world that seems to be perpetually stuck in the 1940's,a world stuffed with supernatural creatures and Lovecraftian horror's.Turf wars between zombies and humans are frequent with lots of laugh out loud moments, comedy violence and general all round monster/gangster fun.So if i were you i would pick up The Goon and check it out for yourself.At this price for such a large and high quality book you can't really go wrong.

Simply awesomely brilliant - it's goofy fun and a the language not for kids, but it has the entertainment factor of the very best comics. The artwork is top of the draw, and clearly progresses from the early stories. There is pathos mixed in with the humour, so there is undercurrent of sophistication that is not obvious at first sight. This is a large book (bigger than DC Omnibus), but handsomely put together, heavy duty paper, sewn bound, brilliant value overall. Top buy recommendation!

I have only now discovered the goon. I know I know I'm late like Greeks at a dinner party.The goon is absolutely hilarious. It doesn't take it self serious and Eric is having loads of fun. The art progresses throughout the book. The goon and Franky are both cool characters. I can't wait to read more, will be ordering the second volume shortly.

Decent offbeat comic fun, high quality product and plenty of bang for your buck.

Starting with the good:This is the usual excellent quality presentation from Dark Horse library editions, premium paper, well printed, sewn binding, very high quality, so from that perspective fantastic value for money.The not so good (and this is purely personal taste).It's a bit offbeat for me, the result of which is that there's no real sense of progression or depth to the overall story. It's a bit slapstick for my reading taste, hence carries limited weight. It's similar in tone to Adam Warren's Empowered.
