The illustrations are a bit strange.
Do they always use the t.v. animation images on the book covers? My son was an avid Arthur watcher as a child and we had a couple of Arthur themed board games, too. We must not have borrowed any of the books from the library because I had no clue the artwork was different in the books. It is strange that they use the cartoon images on the covers when the illustration are different on the inside. I really liked the way Arthur was rendered because he looked much more like an aardvark. We always used to remark how t.v. Arthur looked more like a hamster. I really liked the way Buster was drawn, too, but Francine looks horrible. Her mouth is weird and lopsided and even in happy scenes she looks angry. A couple of the other secondary characters faces were misshapen, too. The story was good, but not great. I can see it being a fun Valentine's Day read and then not read again. On my blog I use half stars so it would be a 3.5 rating.

Teaches a valuable lesson to children
In the story, Arthur gets a valentine but he doesn’t know who it’s from. It says it’s from a secret admirer and then the next day he gets a second valentine card. It’s really quite heart-warming and cute as you read this with your kids because it makes you think back to your first crush and your first date. It’s also cute to read as your children try to figure out who really gave Arthur the note. At the end of the book Arthur ends up going to the movies to meet the mystery person and you find out who is really behind the letters. Cute overall, great illustrations and a nice heart-warming story to read with your children.

Book is damaged
The entire book folds in half! Obviously it’s damaged, so why sell it? Supposed to be new!

My daughter loves this story. It is a bit short , but really sweet. Reading this story brings back my childhood days; especially with the little crushes we used to have as kids

The "turn page" signal is not easy to hear
This read-along book is just "ok". The voice is not overly expressive, they don't do different voices for different characters. The "turn page" signal is not easy to hear, and when it goes, it does not pause long enough for a small child to get the page turned in time.If you want a REALLY GOOD Arthur Read-Along book, I suggest Arthur's Halloween! The story is better, the voice is expressive, different voices are used for different characters, and the "turn page" signal is very clear.
