Nice pictures
Nice collection of pictures and a variety of tree house types. Not the best for someone who needs instructions on how to built one.

Tree house book, pretty pictures lacking in tech.
I'll admit to being a little disappointed with this. Given the page count, I was expecting something a little more comprehensive in technical detail and maybe a few more plans and handy hints and less pretty pictures of American tree houses. Having said that, there is a small technical section that's better than nothing and some of the pictured tree houses offer significant inspiration for those whose ideas are lacking. Nice coffee table book and a little different.

A beautiful and useful book
Having sat down to feast on three treehouse books I had just begged, borrowed or stolen, this one was clearly the best all-rounder. It is packed full of beautiful, inspirational ideas and some good advice too. It isn't a 'how-to-build-a-treehouse' book, but it's worth getting to pick up some ideas.

might just blow your mind
This is the third book from Peter Nelson of Treehouse Workshop. His previous two delved in depth into treehouse construction. This work is more a survey of the many wonderful treehouses to be found throughout the world. It is crammed with quality color photographs and, unlike a previously reviewed work, has a unifying narrative throughout.Peter starts you off with a very useful section entitled "Choice of Tree". There he briefly touches upon suitability of various tree species to treehouse construction and provides a mini sketch of each tree species with a treehouse. Immediately after comes some very accurate arboriculture advice from Jonathan Fairoaks. It's nice to find a treehouse book that gets this part right for a change. For me, the real value of this book is in the tour it takes you on of many notable treehouse. I bring this book to meetings with clients so they can see the many incredible things possible. And for those who've never considered it possible that a treehouse could be any more than a small, roughly built box, this book will blow their minds. What this book lacks is building advice. It's not a "how-to" book. There really is no great "how-to" book out there. Even so, highly recommended.

Some amazing houses
No, this is not a how-to book. There are only a few opening pages of general information relating to picking the right tree; where to build; matters of stability, and dealing with zoning laws, etc. Mostly this is a picture book - an idea book. Lots of stunning full color, full page photographs of both interior and exterior tree dwellings. The final part of the book has short sections on play houses, forts and tiny tree houses for children - and also tree houses open to the public.Anyone who has dreams of owning a house in the trees will enjoy this book. Imagine living in the woods, not in a cottage or cabin on the ground, but up in the branches of a tree that sways gently when the North Wind blows. Or spending your day face-to-beak with woodpeckers and wrens.A very nice assortment of treehouse photographs, along with brief descriptions for each.
