Very easy to use and far better than PTFE tape.
I wish I had discovered this thread sealing cord earlier. It works very well and is easy to use.Unfortunately, the sticker Amazon places for their stock code obscures the usage guidance, so be careful to refer to the website if you can't peel it off successfully. The key is using the correct number of turns related to your pipe diameter, and in winding each turn across the thread rather than within the thread.I just knew it was going to work as I tightened each joint - a smooth resistance, which became higher as the end of the tightening approached. I particularly like the way a sealed joint can be re- orientated (for example, to align a tap) after assembly without losing watertightness. If you need to remove a joint, it's easier to clean the threads of this cord compared to PTFE tape, or sealing gunk. It's an updated version of the old plumbers' standby, hemp fibre. You get a lot of cord in the dispenser for the money, so I consider it decent value for money. Switch to this and you'll never go back to PTFE tape.

Great upgrade to ptfe tape
Don't get me wrong ptfe tape does have its uses, but over the years it seems to be getting thinner and thinner. After having a leak on both radiator tails I had just installed I searched for an alternative.Hey presto loctite 55 is here.Straight away after installing what appeared to be a small amount (7 to 8 turns on the thread) I could tell it was NEVER going to leak. A very reasureadly tightness that you just don't get with ptfe.No drips, weeps or puddles after walking away.Superb and a 50m roll should last me a lifetime!

Seals threads easily and effectively
This product does exactly what it needs to do - it seals threads easily and effectively and allows for an interference fit on items such as outdoor taps where orientation is important. Much better than PTFE tape.

Reliable and easy to apply
Provides a much better seal than PTFE tape. I was able to seal 3/4 BSP dog legs with just three full turns of the fitting.

Was recommended, easy to use, works well. Not that more expensive considering you get 50m
Reviewed May 2023:Bought this after a recommendation from a YouTube channel on the best ways to ensure compression joints are totally sealed and he was using this stuff.Although regular PTFE is pretty cheap for a roll, its usually for 12 metres or so. (thats still a lot of pipes that can be sealed!). This loctite cord is 50 metres, I'm thinking this will probably last me the rest of my lifetime if I don't loose it.This is cord, not flat tape.. one lesson as that its not necessary to have tape flat (how much time and frustration has been spent in the past!).In the case of compression fittings, its a case of winding about 7 turns on the pipe below the olive (once the olive is in place from an initial tightening). Then, when tightening up, the cord is compressed under the screw fitting and against the olive. Its very tidy, with no cord/tape on show, and I had a 100% first time success rate of zero leaks! The casing has a cutter, which is helpful because it means you can cut it off one handed, and its red in colour which helps when trying to find it after putting it down.I'd buy this again if I run out or loose this reel.

Does the job
Have generally used PTFE tape (lots of it) for BSP fittings so approached this with some caution - however this worked so well - 8 turns is enough for a watertight fitting allowing re-position so especially good on elbows and shower fittings

Converted
First off I am a DIYer, so my opinion may differ from the professionals.I saw this cord being used by Plumber Parts and thought I would give it a go.Normally I use PTFE and I always have a mare with it.. normally I drop the spool or I don't wrap it around the fitting tight enough.Well, with this I think its idiot proof. On the dispenser there is a guide on how many times you need to wrap around the thread and that seems to work well.It mat be obvious to you, but with this stuff you go across the thread and not with it. So far it has been flawless and no leaks ( kiss of death time if you ask me ).Ill be buying more of this when this spool runs out.

Excellent for sealing brass plumbing fittings
Installed a full house water filter system in my home with 4 bar water pressure. Couldnt get it to seal with minor weeping on brass 1" fittings. Bought this product opposed to hemp and silicone method. It took longer to remove the failed ptfe than wrapping the threads with this product. You can tell the difference whilst tightening the fittings and it worked first time totally leak free under fairly high pressure. The price may seem expensive for what you get, but it works and is cheaper than a flood or hiring a plumber. will use again if needed opposed to ptfe tape. I hope someone benefits from this review.
