Q: Sorry if this seems like a dim-witted question, but how do you use it? Just sprinkle it on, or mix it with oil/butter? I'm seriously clueless.

That's not a dim-witted question at all....they could have done better with their description. You can sprinkle it on hot buttered or oiled bread to make garlic bread. I sprinkle it on fish, chicken or pork chops before baking or pan frying. I use it on asparagus after steaming or before oven roasting. It has parm. cheese in it, and we love it tossed with olive oil and pasta. It's well worth the price and a jar lasts quite awhile. I think you'll like it!

Q: Does it need to be refrigerated?

I do not have mine in a refrigerator. Just in my spice cupboard.I like it very much.

No it is made up of granules. Not a powder nor a paste.
