Heavy, intimidating, and somehow comforting
This lock is the bike equivalent of a bodyguard. It’s hefty, solid, and clearly tells would-be thieves: “Not today, buddy.” I’ve used cheaper locks in the past and always had that tiny panic in the back of my head. With this one, I actually feel like I could leave my bike outside a coffee shop and go back an hour later without a second thought. It’s not light, and you’ll feel it in your backpack, but that’s the price you pay for peace of mind. Easy to use, durable, and so sturdy it probably doubles as an emergency club if you really need it.

Great bike lock
This is the first big investment in securing my bike. I am using this on a $210 Huffy so I feel like this lock being almost half the value of the bike makes sense, and the build quality of the look seems pretty good. That said I will not be truly putting it to the test, and I hope it is never tested by any would be bike thieves. As for the function well it comes with two keys one has a small blue LED to light it up in the dark. I am going to say right now mine didn't really work so I removed the LED for a project, and the key does key things:P As for the lock its self. Well it weighs around 6lbs or double my $17 Kryptonite lock. The chain is a lot thicker than said lock, and the lock has a much better shackle/locking lug. There are pros and cons to that. the main one is you have to unlock the lock before you can lock the chain in place, or you have to leave the key in as you feed the chain through the bike rack. The cheap model you just shove the chain in while the lock is in the lock position and you're good to go. That said I'll take the slightly clunky nature of the evolution series 4 any day for the security it adds. All in all I'd say if you need a nice lock pick this one up. it is heavy, and clunky at times, but you have to ask if your investment into your bike is worth it. For me it was a no brainer since I use my bike as my primary transportation, and I'd rather spend $90 for a nice lock than $210 for a replacement bike. My other complaint would be this before I forget. this lock isn't super long so it only really works on one bike so riding partners will need their own lock, and the main thing that this only really fits bike racks, or thinner objects it wouldn't fit around a tree or street light for example, or at least I haven't been able to make that work.

Great lock!
It's working well so far! Easily secures my bicycle, and the bicycle hasn't disappeared yet. Kryptonite locks are known for their quality, and this chain does not disappoint. If you read the numerous detailed reviews or watch videos about this specific chain lock they all come to the conclusion that this specific one is a great value providing enough security, and that is absolutely correct. It's easy to use, and the key inserts and rotates easily with no binding. This is a very good chain lock and I'm extremely pleased with it.

Sturdy and Secure - Kryptonite Evolution 1090 Bike Lock
Securing e-bikes has always been a concern, given their increasing popularity and cost. The Kryptonite Evolution 1090 has truly lived up to its reputation as a reliable defense against bike theft, justifying my initial apprehensions about e-bike security. The build quality is superb, reminiscent of a fortified tank, providing impressive protection to whatever it is latched onto. My confidence in this product was so high that I purchased a second one for my other bike. Such is the assurance that Kryptonite Evolution 1090 offers, making it an essential purchase for those concerned about the security of their bikes. However, it's important to note a couple of drawbacks. One being the weight of the lock. It is significantly heavy, which is not surprising considering the high level of security it provides, but can be inconvenient during rides. When wrapped around the middle of my bike, it certainly adds an extra burden that some might find off-putting. The second drawback is the time it takes to lock up due to the required multiple wraps around the bike. This can be a minor annoyance for those in a hurry or those who lock and unlock their bikes frequently throughout the day. Despite these downsides, the Kryptonite Evolution 1090 is a solid investment if your primary concern is bike security. It's an insurance against theft that brings peace of mind, especially for high-value e-bikes. Just be prepared for the additional weight and a bit of extra time spent securing your bike. If you can overlook these minor inconveniences, you'll find this product to be a reliable guardian for your valuable ride.

Good chain lock
This is a good chain lock from a reputable company that has a great reputation and stands by its products. Pros: good build quality, thick chain links, protective layers on most of the chain, hard to pick the lock mechanism, company website offers a key registry program and a theft assurance program.(can’t call it insurance because it’s not🤷♂️) Cons: this chain is Heavy! Make sure this chain is practical for its purpose. I got it for my 120lbs+ dual motor, e-bike with 3 batteries. So it’s practical for me but even I feel the weight affecting my ride nonetheless. The locking mechanism is complex and delicate so you need to make sure you lock and unlock the the chain properly. Always make sure the key goes in all the way in and never force the key because you will damage the mechanism. And lastly I’ve read that the assurance program that says it will give you money if their lock fails in a theft but I’ve read that it’s only for bikes that are already insured and it’s in the fine print.. which i myself cannot find. Conclusion: this is a good lock, it will deter most thieves during short to moderate lock up durations even in high crime areas. I feel totally confident leaving my desired e-bike locked in NYC for 5-30 minutes. No lock is theft proof but this one is one hell of a deterrent. I’m overall happy with my purchase and recommend this product

Lock it up with confidence
This lock won't prevent someone from stealing your bike but it will definitely make them think twice about it. Bike thieves will usually go for locks that are easy to break, pick, or cut. This is because there's a risk reward system involved - i.e., the more difficult the lock the more time it will take for them circumvent it; meaning there's more probability that they will be caught. It's based on this principle that I purchased this lock and here's why: 1. unlike standard cable locks or more popular U-Locks, Chain locks are flexible, this usually makes them more difficult to cut with an ankle grinder (difficult to hold the chain steady while cutting) and less prone to force prying attacks (a common circumvention method to U-Locks.) The 10mm hex link chain design of this lock is a pain in the rear to cut or force apart. That's because the chain itself is made from an ultra strong and tough triple heat treated manganese steel. 2. This outer tube of the lock cylinder is made of hard 1/8th inch steel and the inner tube is reinforced with sturdy zinc, and the locking bolt is a thick steel bar. Lastly, the core that secures it all is a newer disc detainer core. What this all means that the lock itself is going to be extremely time consuming to break and extremely challenging to pick with out a specialize pick set. About the only negative things I can say about this lock is that it's bulky and heavy. Also, there's no easy way to secure it on my road bike while riding. Other than these complaints, I'd highly recommend this lock.

Great Lock
I use this on my ebike. It's just long enough to be useful. Heavy duty. Great deterrent for drive-by thieves looking to make a quick get away. Very heavy. Disc detainer lock mechanism takes expert skill & specialized tools to pick, so most thieves would have to cut the chain, but these are some beefy manganese steel links, so your typical bolt cutters won't do. The sheath does a good job protecting the paint on the bike. Make sure you register your key with Kryptonite, because you're going to need power tools to get this thing open if you lose your key.

Good Lock/Chain. (REMEMBER NO LOCK IS 100% SECURE)
1 year insurance for lock + whatever locked is nice. Chain is sturdy. Even with the bigger 35" size, the chain is smaller than anticipated (I didn't measure what I needed and the chain clearly measures as advertised) but is luckily perfect for my thick bike/weird lock points. The smaller size wouldn't have worked for me. Locking mechanism is fine. Other reviews talk about how difficult it is because they've never used a Disc-Style cylinder. The way to align these is with the key. So....jiggle the key / rotate it as you insert. Simple. Takes so little time it's insane any comments on this review section even bring it up. No lock/chain is perfect. I bought this with the awareness that if a determined enough person were to go at whatever I have locked, they will get it given enough time. However, this appears to be a big enough of a headache to get around that I can only wish whoever steals my things luck since they wanted it much more than I did. Someone's going to have to angle grind / torch this thing off and for my < 1hour stops I don't have too much worry.
