Why do I need this if i have a nest connected to my rheem eco net water heater.

I wanted to go on in the morning at 9:00 AM to 11 AM then I wanted to go back on at 9 AM to 11 PM I had an old electrical timer but that takes electricity to I have a 1100 square-foot townhouse and I’m spending $350 a month on electricity and this heater is like two years old it’s a smart one the Rheem I have the app and all that but the lowest it goes is to 110° I don’t know if this will work the timer downstairs it doesn’t go off to what it said that it still runs and then eventually shuts off will this work?

Previous version used to have a hardware plumbed hot water temperature sensor. Wouldn't the new version be less accurate?

The in-tank sensor was useful for providing a more accurate and real-time view on tank energy, and indeed its temperature reading was more directly reading the tank temperature. However, we felt that the reduced installation time/complexity was a worthwhile tradeoff, and the external sensing approach provides a reasonably accurate picture.

Question 3

If I am located in the same subnet, can I control the device locally without internet connection? If not do you know another device that can do that?

Interesting question. They just recently released the app for this product. Maybe using just the app will connect but the old browser connection method definitely would not.

Question 4

I have a recirculation pump. will that affect the aquanta operation? is there a way to syncronize the run times between aquanta and the pump?

Accepted Answer

The Aquanta will allow you to turn the water heater on and off at preset times. There is a lag between turning the heater on and having water at your desired temp. If the recirculating pump is only getting heated water to places where you use it so it’s hot when you turn it on the. It should have no impact. Just consider how long it will take from when you turn the heater on to getting water up to temp. I don’t know that there is a way to sync them unless your recirculating system only operated when your water supply reached a preset temperature.
