USB to Ethernet Adapter

I bought this adapter having seen the video by HDTVTest's Vincent Teo (on Youtube - thanks Vincent!) showing how this method works. Or can work depending on the TV manufacturer and model. I'm delighted to find it works perfectly on my new Panasonic Z95B OLED (connected to the "USB 2" input port which is USB version 3.0). I'm now getting a download speed close to my current (full fibre) package maximum of 300 Mbps. Happy days!

I bought this for my Sony 48 A90K OLED TV to upgrade from the 100mbps onboard ethernet port. I can confirm that this cable matters USB 3.O gigabit adapter works perfectly with the Sony A90K and does give gigabit speed if your broadband supports it. Just ensure that you disable wi-fi in the settings so that auto play works to enable the adapter. To take advantage of upto gigabit speed you need to connect the to the usb 3.0 port on the TV. For Sony a90k owners the usb 3.0 port is located on the bottom next to HDMI 2 and labelled for HDD. If you connect to a USB 2.0 port, the adapter will still work, but the maximum speed will drop from around 940mbps to around 400mbps due to usb 2.0 limitations. Being able to use more broadband speed on my TV has made 4k content noticeably more stable and so far I haven't had the resolution drop lower like it used to when using the in-built 100mbps port, and yes I'm aware that Netflix 4k barely goes over 20mbps so 100 should be easily enough. But I can confirm that in my case, that 4k streaming is more stable. Overall, if you're looking for a USB 3.0 to gigabit LAN adapter for a Sony A90K, this is the perfect choice. The price is great, the build quality is top notch, plus it just works :)

I bought this item in an attempt to increase the speed of connection into my smart TV. Unfortunately it did not work. I don't see any failure being attributed to the product or company at all it was a risk I was willing to take. It is most likely a TV USB issue or perhaps a driver one. However I have now used the product to connect my laptop to my router if I need a reliable fast connection. The product feels robust. It does not feel like it is ready to fall apart. Very simple to use and have seen the speed increase as it states with listing. I have a 900mb/s connection and with USB 3.0, running a speedtest I obtained 938 mb/s I would recommend this product for laptops and for games consoles. For the price, it is worth trying if you want to try on smart TV but like me be prepared for it not to work.

Works perfectly on my LG tv. It doesnt show as connected in the LG settings but when I look at my switch I can see its connected at 1GB speed instead of 100MB. Have ordered 2 more for my other tvs. This has now stopped the buffering I was getting when trying to watch 4K stuff from Plex.

Works on Sony BRAVIA 7 TV but but only able to get around 200-300mbps which isn't faster than my WiFi. Unfortunately didn't work on my LG B5 OLED.

It is a very nicely made unit and works as it should. However, some Utube reviews said it would work with most L.G. televisions. Sadly this was not the case with my LG model no: 65UN81006LB. I give this information so as to help others with this model TV. In no way is it the fault of 'Cable Matters' it is due to the failings of the LG company who have not allowed USB/ethernet adapters to work with their units through USB. 100Mbps is inadequate in this modern age and they fail to upgrade their ethernet in access of 100Mbps. This is the reason TV owners strive to improve matters for themselves by using Gigabyte ethenet adapters so they can stream live videos without constant buffering or frequent freezes. The addition of Ethernet Gigabyte would ownly add very negligable cost to a TV I would llike to add, I contacted 'Cable Matters about the problem, they replied almost immediaately with valuable tech' information. A big credit to Andrew on the team for his advice & help. In all other respects this device is recommended.

My Tcl 85 c855k was only getting 97 megs which wasnt enuff to stream 8k... only had it a day but now getting between 444megs and 500megs im im one 1 gig with virgin but thats wired to my back room so had to use a 50 meter cat cable as i hate using wifi on the tv eventho they gave us a booster i would still be ethernet connected as it just rules out the wifi problem on it.. anyways hope this helps someone.... oh also let me add the side port on the tv is the one giving me them speeds the one on the back is still giving me 97 meg with the adapter in.. which is weird thought it would be other way around just means i have to now see a wire but looking for a right angle usb 3.0 thing so i dont see it sticking out purely cosmestic but like hiding all my wires..

Very good my speeds on tv went up from 99mbs to 400-600 mbs

This one does NOT work on LG C8 or LG CX. It seems like it’s their other model (ASIN B00BBD7NFU) that is compatible with these LG TVs. It would’ve been better if the description could clarify if it’s compatible with LG webOS TV’s or not... I can confirm that this product does work on mac however.

Works great for my Nintendo Switch. I was having issues with ping time over WiFi, and this has lessened those issues. Nice if you play shooter games like Splatoon 2, or really anything online where reactions matter. It makes a big difference to your experience, and is worth the $20 or so. Make sure you get this one, or another that specifically notes "for Nintendo Switch" because not all adapters work.

Very happy. Using on my Synology DS920+ Now I have 2.5GB Ethernet. Been going for months.
