The Better Version of Me

I have to say I LOVE Marni Mann and I did go into this book blind ( thank God) thinking I would know what this book going to be about and I hold my hand up now and say I was completely wrong. What an amazing story this is. Such a clever put together book. This story and it's characters will stay with me for a long time to come.Jesse and Emery have been sweethearts since college and they love each other so much which is clearly evident in the story. Being busy people owing businesses, trying to run a home and with children to look after, Jesse suggests that they interview for an assistant and this is where Charlotte comes in to their lives. The story goes back and forth between past and present but leaves you guessing about the most important part of all. Jesse was the most wonderful, strong lady you could wish to meet. I instantly connected with her and loved her dearly. The love she has for Emery and her children is so lovely to read about. Emery too is a marvellous husband and father, he is so lucky to have Jesse by his side to support him, in fact they support each other in their marriage. All the characters were really interesting and forceful and added to the story in their own way; each had a story to tell but nothing and I mean nothing prepared me for what was to come.I thought I knew where this story was going as soon as they hired Charlotte but I was so very very wrong. I would never of guessed the outcome of this book in a million years and that is why the way it has been written is so so clever. This was one of those books that pulls every ounce of emotion from your body you can possible give.It left a giant lump in my throat, tears in my eyes with me sitting there open mouthed asking myself WTF just happened. It is THAT good.As far as I am concerned Marni Mann is a genius and I would read her shopping list if I could get hold of it.DON'T miss the chance to read this remarkable story, because once you do, you will never ever forget it !!!

Wow......What a brilliant read this really was and I'm pleased I read it on release day before I seen any spoilers, because with this book you really need to go into it blind and just take on the journey this book takes you on. I don't want to say to much because I would hate to spoil it for anyone but with this book I did have my theories on this story but I didn't get it bang on, until the end it got me. I love books like this that gets you guessing to very end. A absolutely brilliant story that i loved to the end!!!

This book has broken me, I didn't ever think a book could do that to me, after reading when ashes falls by Marni I was expecting this book to be great, but outstanding I wasn't expecting, I need to re read as I'm sure there's bits that I probably missed, but I have arc books to read, althou I'm sure this book has broken me for any other book. MARNI I don't know how you right the way you do in these books but please write more.

Wow just wow!!!!God I really don't know where to start with this review. I'm not long after finishing and I feel like these characters are goin to be with me for a while. This author really knows how to get your emotions going. I'm all over the place right now I was happy, sad, crying and angry without this book. I really luvd Jesse from the start of this book she is a great character and such a strong woman. By the end of the book I luvd her even more. This woman isn't like anything I have ever read she is the most unselfish person ever. Do I think what she did was right in not sure to be honest. But I really do understand why she choose to do it. So she did what she had to do. But this woman is a great mother wife and best friend. She is a true protector and is just amazing. Emery ok this guy is great but I'm a lil on the fence about him. Ye he's sexy a great husband and dad. But there is just something that I didn't get about him. It really kills me to say it but it could be that I was just so sucked in by Jesse that she took over for me. I did love that he loved his wife more than everything she was his world they were college sweethearts and even after having 2 children they were still got for each other. I really do luv them as a couple. I don't want to really say to much in my review cause it would spoil the story and you really don't want to have this book spoiled you HAVE to read it. This author alway puts so much emotion in her books. They are so well written and the twist his the twist is just crazy brilliant and so do unexpected Marni Mann your amazing. I would highly recommend this book this story is beautiful, emotional, deep, engaging and brilliant.

What a phenomenal story! When I first started the book I had no idea what I was in store for. The blurb was a bit mysterious, so at the beginning I got an idea into my head of what I thought was going to happen. How wrong was I?The Assistant jumps from ‘before’ to ‘after’ leaving us trying to guess what the middle was. I was confused and I was desperate for Jesse and Emery’s story to conclude happily. I wanted to hate Charlotte right from the start, because I had an idea about her and I felt like I shouldn’t like her, but I couldn’t hate her because she is so likeable.It’s such a thrilling story and I couldn’t have guessed the ending at all. Not one of my guesses was anywhere near what actually happened.I did cry buckets at one point. Big ugly snotty crying and I wanted a hug. I wanted to put the book in the freezer and maybe not get it back out. I didn’t do that, I carried on, and I’m so glad I did.This book put me through the emotional blender and spat me out a little bit broken. It’s amazing and it’s definitely left me with a major book hangover. I’m not sure anything can compare to this one now! In fact I’m going to read it again because I feel for sure I may have overlooked parts.Five stars is not enough!
