Braeburn 7500 Universal Wireless Thermostat

This unit installed as a thermostat upgrade very simply and with just a few basic tools. The unit works as expected and each day can be programmed individually. The wireless thermostat function is nice for our use of the forced air HVAC system in our house; it allows for us to relocate the thermostat into different rooms at our desire and thereby use our wood stove and HVAC systems to heat synergistically and efficiently rather than having a warm house core and colder house extremities!

We moved into a rental house a few days ago. Right away I noticed that the room temp was nowhere near what the Nest thermostat was set at. Come to find out some dufus put the thermostat on a wall the heat duct runs through. The wall is a few degrees warmer to the touch than other areas. This unit solved the problem, and I am using it as a "portable" thermostat for now. I will mount it when I find the spot that mirrors the temp on the sofa. Seems like a very well made product, and was very easy to install.

This is one of those things that would be rated five stars if it worked, but it didn't work for me. Installation and setup was relatively easy. The instructions were not totally clear about the need for a common wire to provide continuous power to the wireless transmitter/receiver on the control unit. (The thermostat can run using only a battery.) Once everything was setup, I was able to establish a wireless connection easily. I moved the thermostat to the desired location, and everything was working ... for an hour. After that time, the units were unable to communicate with each other. I reestablished the connection, but the reconnection didn't last very long, either. I believe that the problem is a combination of the construction of my house and the distance within the house between the two units. In some sense, the distance will be a factor in all applications - if the room with the thermostat is close and convenient to the heating unit, the best solution is to run a wire. I decided to try wireless because running a wire would be difficult - a long distance with many rooms and walls. Even with the distance factor, I believe that the construction of my house was a contributing factor. It is an old house with stone walls and plaster. Customer service from Braeburn could not have been more helpful. They answered the phone immediately, gave accurate answers to my wiring questions, and explained the communication issues thoroughly. In summary - good product idea, good technical support, but doesn't work in my house.

Nice high quality product, one of the few wireless thermostats I found that doesn't need a wifi connection but instead uses a direct RF connection. The wiring instructions are easy to follow, and I was able to speak directly with a tech support staff at Braeburn and confirm my wiring chart was correct. The thermostat easily paired with the control unit and I manually put the system through its paces without any issues. One thing I didn't expect is that the thermostat is manufactured to be mounted to a wall whereas I wanted a free standing unit, so I will be building a wood mount to make the thermostat mobile. I bought this because the original thermostat was mounted in our upstairs hallway. We keep the bedroom doors closed at all times, which made for huge differences between actual temps in the bedroom versus the hallway. With this wireless thermostat the bedroom temp will dictate the status of the heat pump instead of the hallway temp. Couldn't be happier!

I purchased this thermostat over five years ago. It has worked very well during that time. Temperature control is good and it has never lost the wireless connection between the thermostat and control module. Lately, one of the buttons on the thermostat began to work intermittently. I contacted the company to find out how I could get a replacement since I was happy with the overall performance of the device. The company responded within a few hours and indicated they would send a new thermostat even though the five year warranty on the original had expired a few months ago. I received the replacement three days later.

Easy to install and works fine as long as you follow the instructions. I have a two story home. The thermostat wiring had a bad wire and we were unable to fish another line through the ceilings and walls. I installed the thermostat in the first floor and the control module by our hvac in the attic. I was surprised the wireless went through two ceilings. The thermostat is not hard wired and is operated by battery only.

Easy to install and if you gave questions, great customer service

I ended up removing this thermostat after installation and using a hardwired thermostat. It definitely did not have a strong signal and kept losing connection between the receiver and the thermostat. The distance was less than 30 feet in my application. It was considerably cheaper than the Honeywell model that I usually use And I am now aware of why.
