Very useful item
I've had one of these for donkeys year, but the wire broke. I knew no shops around here would have one, so I was delighted to find this online. Very pleased with my purchase.

Easy Cheese Slices, from any hard cheese block.
This is a brilliant gadget, it glides through hard cheese like a hot knife through butter, one of the easiest things I have used in ages got cut cheese and you have a choice of thick or thin slices, only down side is at the end if you hold the cheese on its end and slide down the block, it breaks off at the bottom, but if you lie the cheese flat it glides along the whole piece, so easy, even with arthritis it makes cutting cheese so much safer and easier,

Good but the one I received is different and doesn't cut thick or thin.
This is a good cheese slicer and it works very well.I have dropped it one star because it doesn't cut thick or thin slices as described. Both are the same. The model in the picture clearly shows that one wire is closer to the body just like my previous slicer and that will cut thick or thin slices. The model I received is different as you can see in my photograph. The wire is the same distance from the body on both sides so there is no way one cuts thicker than the other. Having said that I quite like the thickness it cuts and this body is thicker so perhaps it will last a lot longer.

Cheese slicing dreams in tatters
In all my cheese slicing days I have never been so disappointed with a new cheese slicing device. Initial slicing went as planned leading to high hopes of continued quality uniform slicing action. However, after the first flush of success it became apparent that the build quality was not what you might expect for £2 (delivered). The wire became saggy leading to unwanted cheese curvature (this may be desirable to some however I require a more orthogonal cut). Furthermore, a solid cheese grip is required leading to well fingered cheese and cross contamination issues arose in our communal dining environment. I estimate that the unusable cheese offcuts will eventually cost more than the product itself. On the plus side, it's dishwasher safe.

There are several bad reviews for this item
There are several bad reviews for this item. However I found this product to be extremely good.you have to be careful using it since it is easily broken if you FORCE it to cut.admittedly I did break the first one I had ,but put this down to me being to forcefull with it.let the wire cut the cheese . my current slicer has lasted me over a year and is still fine.I gave my spare one to my Mother who is 82 she is so pleased with it I am now buying 2 more.1 for spare and one for my sister.

such an excellent usable kitchen gadget
I love these things, by figuring out how to use it as the picture shows I get neat, clean, slices with no problem - only problem with these ones - compared to an earlier one purchased is that I cannot get different thickness's to the slice, looking at it the wires are both the same distance from the plastic - so just one width of slice, but it is a nice universal thickness so no real problem.I found the best way to use them is with 2 hands 1 on the handle and one just at the top, this way you do not put unnecessary strain on the slicer, which could cause it to snap. The last one I had lasted approx 3 months before snapping (mainly using it just by the handle) - this time I brought in bulk 1 to use and 2 to put away - they are so cheap that they really do fit in the use and throw away category, I expect I will buy some more around Christmas time.
