So far so good doesn't smell to bad
I used this on a few plants around the house by sprinkling on top of the soil. Neem oil has a particular smell and this wasn't too bad when wet it smells faintly but I used 1/4 cup at most on the biggest plant. I'm hoping it will keep mealy bugs down on a particular plant I have outside since people use neem to treat plants in oil form. It's still early growing season I will see how it goes. Meal is ground up but not super fine or powdery. I applied with a little measuring cup easily. Zip top bag was easy to open an sealed again which is never guaranteed these days. Overall I'm hopeful.

Research on Effectiveness
Neem Seed MealNeem has lots of research backing it up showing their effectiveness against fungus gnats, root knot nematodes, etc…. It is important to say that if you have put Beneficial Nematodes on your plants, Neem is a nematocide so it will kill the beneficial nematodes as well as the root knot nematodes. As for me, I purchased this Neem Seed Meal because I have a fungus gnat issue in my Garden Room that contains tropical hibiscus that must remain somewhat moist all of the time. Many people in forums have said that using this as a top dressing of a 1/4 cup per 6” plant will kill all fungus gnat larvae within 4 days. So, that is what I am going to try.Very important: Never fertilize your plants when the soil is dry. I have killed several plants over the 50 or so years that I have been obsessed with plants. I also grew up on a plant nursery. The reason why is that if the plant is dry, it takes in too much fertilizer at once which burns and kills the roots. And it is exceptionally important to water the Neem meal in well. And that it even says that on the package but it’s easy to miss. Again, if it is not watered in well, there will be plant burn.I have also read research that the soil drench works very well for killing fungus gnats. The instructions for that are on the product photo - the one of the back of the product bag- just zoom in.And also on the back of the bag it shows the nutrition analysis (NPK). Yes, those numbers are low but I have found that with organic fertilizers like this, you do see a marked difference in warm weather. In cool weather, it is more difficult for the plants to access the nutrients. What I have read from others using Neem Meal is that it has very little smell. When I opened this package of Neem Seed Meal I didn’t detect much smell so that’s good because I don’t like the smell of Neem oil!The look and texture of this Neem Seed Meal is like ground coffee and you can see that in the photo I pasted here.If this doesn’t work, or works exceptionally well, I will update this review. For now I’m giving it 5 stars because the price is Great at the moment and I have high hopes!Good luck and happy gardening!

Strong scent but easy to work with. Zipper doesn't work
I wish the bag was better! The resealable zipper doesn't close at all so I have to use another bag over it. I never used neem seed meal before, but this bag is a decently small size for a amateur gardener like myself who don't have alot of plants. I have a pothos that keeps getting gnats so I'm hoping to mix this in to help control it. This stuff does have a strong scent! I don't mind it since its not strong enough to fill the room nor do I find the scent unpleasant. This stuff is coarser than I thought it be which is fine with me since I don't want it to be super fine. It makes grabbing and mixing it in easy. I read it helps control fungi in soil. Since I live in an area that rains every week so we got quite a bit of humidity. So I'm looking forward to seeing how this will help deter fungi and also deter pests! This small bag is expensive but so its seems to be doing its job.

Seems to nourish houseplants, but can't wait until spring to try this outside.
I probably ordered this a tad preemptively, since I ordered this in October and all the plants, I want to fertilize bloom in the late spring. However, I do have a bunch of houseplants that are flourishing but could always use a little boost.I opted to steep some of the neem seeds in a gallon jug to make tea, and I used the liquid very sparingly on my indoor babies. Since my plants sit in a large window, they thrive from the late morning sun, so I can’t say for sure if the Neem tea made much of a difference, but my plants look amazing! I can say that this stuff has a less than desirable scent, but from what I’ve read, this is a fantastic fertilizer!I think the real test will be next year when I sprinkle the seed under my two newly planted Peony bushes. I am a novice gardener that has slowly been getting in to beautifying my outdoor space. I look forward to trying the Neem seed in April and will have a more thorough review/opinion then!

A great asset to my new plants!
See pics!Simply put: I love this fertilizer and what it’s doing for my plants! It is saving one lemon tree of mine, and growing culantro plants so well. They’re looking much greener than my other, mature culantros. I must attribute it to this fertilizer.I personally love the smell of this seed meal. It smells like neem seeds and I love that smell.I dilute it with water and water the plants with it every day. I don’t even have to use a lot. I still have the majority of the bag almost 1 month later.Overall, I’m very satisfied with the results I’ve gotten out of this bag and would definitely recommend it.

True organic but low NPK and no info on minor nutrients
This is an interesting way to use up the material left after removing the neem oil from neem seeds. The nutrient content is rather low but it is indeed true slow-release organic and would be good to add to potting soil. The ground seed casings have the look of coarse ground coffee. I would not expect this to deter sucking insects at all like the neem oil that has already been removed from the product. The current price of $19 for a three pound bag is not too bad but in my package the press-together seal separated from the bag so it was not resealable.
