BLACK+DECKER 90 W Rotary Power Tool with Flip Spindle Lock and 87 accessories Kitbox, RT650KA-GB

I gave myself a headache looking for a replacement for my 20 yr old Black & Decker Wizard which had'nt packed up but bearings were noisy. I picked up a Dremel 3000 in my local DIY store and immediately, by operating the speed control etc, I knew it was'nt a patch on my old Wizard so back to Amazon searching ! I took the bull by the horns and ordered this B & Decker which arrived next day !! I am delighted with the quality, the feel, the positive speed control etc + the flip spindle lock. Over the years I have accumulated many many tool bits for these rotary tools which is a good thing because the tools supplied with it are really just a gesture and to be honest a waste of time. But its the machine itself I bought and that is great. The case is quite robust and keeps the tool out of harms way ! A lot of credit should be given to Amazon for the speed of despatch & delivery, can't fault them. AND by the way there is a 2 year manufactures guarantee (which I'm sure you won't have to use!). It is probably a tool one dosn'nt use as often a putting the kettle on but it is so very handy in times of need eg; I was helping my son with a crankshaft replacement on his motorcycle. There was a ball baring race fitted to a blind hole in the casing which was almost impossible to get out we struggled for some while until we put a cutting disc into the Wizard. Very carefully we sliced through the outer case of the bearing which took the pressure off the hold it had got and hey presto the bearing came out. If this was the last job it did, it paid for itself !! but it did go on, as I say, for about 20 years.

Surprisingly good quality from B&D but then they make Dewalt so we know if they put their mind to it they can make decent tools! And this one is a bargain. It's thoughtfully designed and an excellent tool. Good torque so it doesn't slow down the minute you start to put any load on it. Quiet at low RPM too. The easy lock for the chuck is absolutely excellent and all in all really does make you feel confident that it's a good tool. I have owned a Dremel and cheap imports before and this is the best for performance and quality at such a good price.Accessory kit is standard quality but not much in it. Nothing special there. The case is pretty much on a par with other multi-tools but is largely empty owing the small amount of accessories supplied. I would actually prefer a small case but that's just me.Accessories such as a flexible drive shaft and chuck and so on are standard so any make will fit. The attachment to the drill for the chuck is the smaller diameter ( as far as I know there are two diameters with these tools and this is the smaller diameter ) and the Dremel chuck that amazon states as being most often bought with this drill fits like a glove.

The speed control on the first one I received was stuck, so not a great start. However, replacement was fairly quick.I've found it difficult to identify a job were this tool is really good. So far I've only been working with 2mm thick aluminium. It can't cut it with the small cutting discs, not with any speed or accuracy, a jig saw works about ten times faster. It's no better drilling than my small battery drill, deburring is quicker by file. Using the cutting discs after a short time they started to slip on the shaft, the little tool supplied for tightening them up on the shaft is a joke, supposedly a spanner one end and a screwdriver the other. You'll need daintier fingers than I have to use this tool as a screwdriver.The only advantage using this tool was with the wire brush to get a brushed finish on the surface. And I wish I hadn't done that now. And I could have fitted the wire brush into a small drill anyway.The motor is smooth enough, the tool changing system quick and easy- with one caveat- getting the tools out of the thing was blasted hard work- until I realised that knocking the tool IN would release the hold the of chuck and make tools easier to extract- not exactly obvious, well not to me.If I can find a really good use for this tool I'll update this review- but don't hold you breath.

I have never used a rotary tool before so cannot compare this one with other available products. That said I'm delighted with this purchase. I didn't believe such a small tool could be as good or as versatile as people made out but the reviews for this particular product were so good I felt it was worth a try, especially as it would supposedly do all the things I wanted.I've so far used it for sanding a door frame and door than were sticking, cutting some wood and cutting some metal. Alright, not a huge amount of things but for each thing it was more than effective. What I would recommend to anyone is a quick release chuck, something I have not yet got. Having said that the standard fitting is adequate I just like a simple life.My one gripe would be that there isn't an explanation of what the accessories are or what to use them for so it's a bit of guess work. I have found though that that is not a problem exclusive to this product as I also bought an accessory set and had the same problem. Maybe that's just me though.

Bought for my dogs nails as I heard it can be better to use a rotary tool than a nail grinder. Works fine but the sandpaper attatchments aren't the best as the attatchments they go on to don't fit snugly. I had to use some tissue to create a snugger fit. The instructions are crap also. But other than that all is well 😊Also if you're going to buy this for your pet I'd reconsider because they're too powerful even when on low.Fast delivery from Amazon
