Well made tool
Just got this so haven't put it to any abuse yet. However, it is heavier and sturdier than I was expecting and looks well made with a hard black finish. The cross driver is OK but could be more accurately milled IMHO but works well enough with careful angling of the tool. The design appears to be well thought out except for one thing. It has a large round hole which is a missed opportunity to provide a 1/4 bit hex hole, instead of a round hole. Even possibly room for an 8mm or 10mm socket hole.Definately a Gerber product and not a low quality knock off.

Looks great. A number of useful tools but in compact form. A few niggles.
Apart from a couple of niggles (see below), the Shard is a decent multitool and offers the tools you're likely to need in most situations, with the exception of scissors, corkscrew and a knife. But if you also need scissors, corkscrew and a knife, you'd need a larger and more expensive multitool such as a swiss army knife. Carrying lots of full-size tools would be ideal but very impractical, and so for the number of tools offered in its compact size the Shard is a good idea and is good value at 7quid50 (bought Feb.2019).Black, unfussy, sleek - the Shard looks cool. But I don't like the unnecessary number printed conspicuously in white on the plain back. I have the Shard attached to the outside of my everyday carry (EDC) and thus I reach for it first. I like feeling prepared for anything. I like having a non-intuitive cool-looking tool that I can save the day with - "here, let me open that drink for you, friend (or enemy)". James Bond probably has a Shard.Bought as an "in case of emergency" tool. Said emergencies include opening the caps on drinks bottles - it's good for that. The bottle-opener's pointy end is like a strong fingernail, as I've used it to prise off the ridiculously tight-fitting plastic inner stopper of a reed diffuser bottle. There's a light-duty pry-bar; with it being at an angle it has better leverage than a flat pry-bar, but could do with being thinner so as to get under more things (mainly tight lids). But cleverly the two sides of the pry-bar (either side of the V) are two sizes of ordinary screwdriver so the pry-bar being thinner wouldn't suit for them. The pointy parts (Philips screwdriver, bottle-opener) are good for poking into and starting to rip open cellophane and other packaging provided it's not too thick. I've done up screws on a piece of self-assembly furniture with the Philips head.Due to the design, using the screwdrivers is fiddly because the Shard's width is wider than is comfortable or desirable for turning a screwdriver. There's a reason why screwdrivers are pen-shaped. The Shard's surface is smooth so the Philips head often slips; you get as good, or perhaps better, grip with one of the Shard's ordinary screwdriver heads. It's not a deal-breaker, as it's just one item on the Shard.I haven't found a use for the hole except as a means of attaching the Shard to my bag. It'd be more useful if it was shaped as a hex screwdriver. The hole is too far down the Shard for it to easily attach directly onto (or detach from) a small carabiner, because it means a Shard end (and a pointy end at that) gets in the way. I've had to attach the Shard to a short length of cord, and I attach the cord to the carabiner.I'll try to upload pictures of the packaging. Note the limited warranty. Because there are poor quality imitations around, I made sure to buy direct from Amazon UK so I got the genuine Shard. Customer Brandon S.'s review on Amazon USA has a comparison photo worth examining, as he bought the real Shard and was later sold a knock-off in a bait-and-switch.I don't know if the Shard would be allowed through airport security, as it has two rather sharp points.

Looks and feels solid
It seems like a premium quality product. It doesn’t seem to bend with my hands. I will see how this goes in longer run.

Amazing little tool
Lovely little tool. I have used it for everything but opening a bottle and I love it. Perfect little gift for someone and practical. Sturdy piece that fit nicely on my keys. Always handy for that annoying little screw that needs tightening without having to get the tool box out.

Love the Gerber Shard
I had one of these and misplaced it while moving to new flat. So ordering another. I've bought a couple for friends too. They are so handy, used it so much during my move removing nails, undoing screws, screw driver worked great for opening boxes etc.I'm ex search and rescue, serving twenty years ago and would have loved one of these in my kit.Have used this to tighten screws and stuff on my wheelchair as well. Most important of all it is handy for opening beer!

So handy. So practical. So concise.
Couldn’t ask for anything more on one keychain.I’ve bought little multi tools before which I rarely ever used, and ended up removing because they either sucked or where obnoxiously large. This thing has everything you need, in one concise little package; you forget it’s on your keychain until you need it. And when you remember it’s there, and has basically everything you need.A great deal. I’ve used it at work and home. It’s just really purchase.

Solid tool
Solid little tool that is a nice addition to my day to day tool set that fits nicely on my keyring. Useful to have around when dealing with little jobs that means I don't need to get a tool kit out.

Pequeño pero sólido
Estructura sólida y aparentemente fiable. No abulta mucho en el llavero. De momento abre botellines de cerveza con soltura.

Sollte an keinem Schlüsselbund fehlen!
