Product Description Baby Newton is an enriching new approach to learning shapes as they are found in our world through the context of toys, nature, kinetic art and beautiful geodesic forms. Hosted by colorful puppets and animated clown, Baby Newton will take your toddler on a field trip through a shape-filled world of sound and motion. Featuring delightful, silly puppet shows and baby-friendly animation accompanied by beautiful live-action video and classical music by Vivaldi, Baby Newton is the perfect way to engage and stimulate your young child. .co.uk Review With the Van Gogh and other "Baby" programs under their belts, the tots who follow Julie Aigner-Clark's Baby Einstein series will sidle up to Baby Newton expecting a similar exploration of building blocks to brilliance, but this time there's a wrinkle or two. Animation makes its first appearance, and parents steeped in keep-it-simple culture may object to the springy "I Know My Shapes" song, a departure from classical-only video predecessors. Otherwise, the tried-and-true genius launchers of titles past pop up anew--Vivaldi floats through each of five shape segments, and clever puppet shows play quickly and infrequently enough to captivate the under-2 crowd. Plus, talk about well rounded: Clark covers the bases, showing off triangular sails drifting toward the sunset one second and geometric patterns the next. Play it for a departure from skill-building standbys like pop-up books and plastic sorters. For ages 1 to 3. --Tammy La Gorce

Best toddler dvd
I bought this dvd as my 18 month old daughter loves other videos in the series, especially Baby Mozart and Baby Bach. The format on this one is a little different, and the main clown song is a bit more jazzy than classical, but my little girl absolutely loves it! She dances around to the theme song as soon as I put it on, and is enthralled by the shapes and colours. Its well worth every penny.

Recommend for getting things done!
Generally good range of videos. Can hold my babies attention for 15 mins whilst I tidy the kitchen without feeling guilty that she's not learning anything. Animal one has been the most interesting to her.

Revised "Baby Newton"
Some years ago I had the "Baby Newton" VCR, but somehow it had disappeared. It was so funny and so entertaining - for ANY age - that I decided to replace it with the DVD. It seems that Disney has bought the company. Whether for that reason or whatever other, the show has changed considerably. In the original the singing was absolutely fascinating - catchy and upbeat. The new version is basically a dirge-like monotone. My children and I have watched it once, but are not interested in sitting through it again. They should have let well enough alone.

Not as Good as some of the others
My 13 month old son loved Baby Mozart so we got him `Discovering Shapes'. But parents be warned: the style of this is very American with American kids doing the voice-over (EG "ladybirds" are called "bugs" etc). May seem pedantic but if I'd wanted US stuff I'd have got him watching Sesame Street (which is great, don't get me wrong). We're sticking to the music-themed Baby Einstein stuff because our son loves the movement and images on them.

Not keen.
My wee man loves his baby einstein dvds however this one gets overlooked. The shapes in it are not right, show a cube saying its a square etc. It's also more CAD than puppets as well which doesn't work very well. Wouldn't recommend this over the other choices.
