There is quite a lot of history and honey-related recipes in this weighty tome. I bought it for, and was more interested in, the practical bee-keeping sections. The information is good, and I am sure the history, biology and recipes will come in handy over time. Good book for a beginner like me.

Covering all aspects of beekeeping from earliest times to present day developments. Everything is covered in this volume.Well illustrated with photographs, diagrams and drawings. I would thoroughly recommend it for the aspiring beekeeper or just for anyone who has a lively interest in things. Quite topical now that bees, other insects wildlife in general are under so much threat from certain sections of humankind not least our own govenment in its refusal to vote for the ban on neonicotinoid pestiides which are thought to be a contributory factor in the decline in the bee population.

Nephew about to start bee-keeping , sent for Xmas , very happy , and I’m happy.

Useful reference book and interesting facts and ideas

You get alot of book for the money so good value . A fairly comprehensive approach with an occasional omission eg no description of Caucasian strains of honey bee. There is also the occasional error due to poor proof reading eg on page 219 the titles of two of the feeders are the wrong way round.

Title says it all! This is a must for any bee enthusiast, experience or beginner beekeeper or nature lover. It's informative, provides indepth guidance on beekeeping, has chapters on wax & candles & honey & recipes for the use of the honey. The book starts off with a full history of beekeeping, throughout the book there are high quality illustrations & photographs, making it in my view a real standout book on beekeeping.

Still havenot read all but from i saw there is lots of recipies for eating, health and the history. Seems really good book!

It’s a beautiful book!

This is the book any beekeeper should have. I purchased this one as an upcoming beekeeper looking for any books to quench my thirst for knowledge before I one day soon take the plunge into keeping my own hives. Full of information and color photographs, this book is a must have for anyone interested and any future beekeeper's library.

What an awesome book, just got it and flipped though it (I have gone throwing about five others in my studies thus far) and I can say with certainty that this is the finest beekeeper's book I have come across.The photos will wow and educate you, it gives history to current practices, and the end of the book even has great recipes that use honey.Highly recommend this book!
