Great low cost cutting discs - recommended

For the money these are quite simply amazing. AT just £3.75 for 5 of this cutting discs you are getting good value, but the fact that they do such a good job makes them essential for the DIYer who wishes to cut metal/stainless steel.Like most I have used hacksaws to cut metal in the past, indeed I still do with smaller stuff, but for metal and stainless steel sheets, these are the only way to go. In use I have learned to take my time and to make sure the work (sheet) is firmly held by clamps and that the sheet is as flat as possible. This way my cuts are clean and straight.

Best few pounds I've spent in many years. Used to cut a front ventilated brake disc that had seized on the hub. Despite being "twin-walled" the Hilka disc cut though both surfaces effortlessly and with minimum sparking, the brake disc was a doddle to crack with a chisel afterwards and was off in minutes. Comparing the one "used" disc with the other four in the pack, I've taken about 1mm off its radius (I'd actually cut the disc twice thinking I would get a larger chisel in there and had a few test slices closer to the hub to make it easier to crack too). Quick delivery on Prime too.

I fitted these to a Black and Decker 900 w small angle grinder which was under £30 pounds. Working together machine and discs went through steel shelving uprights like butter. I am more woodworker than metal worker so had to get used to all the sparks it gives off and that burning metal smell. Both did the job really well though. I was really impressed and at that price I'm going to stock up.

For the price, you really can't grumble. They don't last long, but at that price it really doesn't matter. Managed to cut down 75ft of metal railings and I still have 2 1/2 discs left. Very pleased especially as these are on prime
