this is my secon Mongoose and this one got a real suspension ...My first was a hardtail size 18 and this one is a size 17 but bigger

Love the bike but the seat is very uncomfortable

I am rating this bike based on value for the dollar and I don't think that you will find a more capable mtn bike at this price level.The Cons: brakes are marginal, suspension is just springs (but I have dome some real serious single track riding on this bike and it does perform).The bike is designed for a rider 5-9 and under. Taller riders should get an extended seat post.The Pros: It's not too heavy, handles well and is perfect for most beginner to intermediate riders. The shifting is great, tires are okay, love the seat and pedals, handlebars are nice and wide with good grips, very good crank set and wheels. it is actually a good looking ride.My buddies all ride expensive bikes costing over $2,000 but this $349 bike not only stays with them, holds up too.Unless you are a serious mtn biker, this will work just fine as is. It is comforting to know that there are numerous upgrades available for this bike so you can make it an even better ride as your skills improve and budget allows.

For the money, the best Mongoose Full Suspension Bike available. This is not your regular Big Box MongooseBut you need to upgrade some components.Pros Medium aluminum frame, great painted on matte finish graphics, SRAM X-4 Drivetrain, Rhyno Lite Sunlite Wheels, WTB Speed Seat, Zoom aluminum StemCons Rear Suspension spring, front SR Suntour Spring Fork, Narrow Handlebars, BrakesMost immediatedly, replace rear spring. The stock spring does not have dampening and will bounce all over. Though there is a piston, this shock has no oil. Second, replace the front fork if you want to do Singletrack. The stock fork a SR Suntour XCT is coil with pre-load. Third change the handlebars to wider aluminum handlebars. Lastly, change the brakes to an Avid BB-5 setup.The wheels are good, and the Sram 24 speed is very capable.

The value per dollar is very good. I changed the gooseneck to bring the handlebars up and back, put in a suspension seat post; a long one. I ride high in the air, I am about 5'10". When pedaling I have it adjusted so my leg near fully extends at the bottom of pedal throw. I like the big plastic pedals that came with the bike, big and wide. I put a seat in that itself has springs, so my ride enables me to crawl over curbs, rocky gravel, potholes, railroad trucks much more efficiently than a hard tail bike can. I cant get all the parts I need from Pacific Cycle, a pox on them. I will pay my machinist friend to build parts if I need them. An excellent choice of bike for this starving blue collar fellow.

This bike has some very good potential.Unfortunetly to get that potential you will need to keep upgrading almost everything on this bike.First the brakes. They are less than satisfactory. Replace/order new brakes with the bike. I recommend Avid bb7 mtb kit. New levers, rotors and calipers.Seccond the tires. If your going of road this is a must. It was night and day changing tires to Continental Mountain King 2.2s.Third gotta go,is the rear pogo spring. This pogo spring is horrible. It's just their to keep the bike together. Replaced with Suntour Epicon LOD air shock $120 Fox bushing kit was $42.The last thing that has gota go is the front shock. The only thing that I'm gonna leave for now.One more thing I bought my bikefrom WM. And ther was almost no grease in the bb or bottom bracket, and had two metal burrs which if unchecked would have definitely shorted the life of the bb. Just sevicing the bottom bracket made this bike feel like a thousand dollar and up bike.I have put almost $400 into this bike hopping to have a viable Mtn bike. Almost their. Next is a new front shock.All in all a great XC PROJECT BIKE.
