Cools well but needs to rest on solid surface
The Belkin cooling pad has a central fan and also provides some cooling because of its' shape. The bowed shape leaves some space between the (center of) the laptop and the surface of the pad. It is powered by a usb port on your laptop and so will drain the battery a bit faster. I found the shape a bit awkward, as the pad is slightly smaller than the laptop and is is balancing on the edges rather than sitting flat. It really needs to be used on a solid surface, like a desk, which is a bit limiting for a mobile device. I tried to use it in bed (where I had intended to cast a movie to my TV) but it was awkward trying to get it to balance on a soft surface.I bought it for use with a Lenovo Flex5 which got hot quickly every time I turned it on. I am not sure if the fan helped or not because the laptop was dead in under 3 months :( I do not think the heat had anything to do with it, as the laptop just refused to recognize that there was a hard drive (seemingly a huge problem with this series of Lenovo laptops judging by the number of posts on their forum). The fan did run, though I am not sure it provided enough cooling for this particular laptop which ran very hot. After several weeks of trying to repair it, with the help of my daughter who did IT for the faculty at her college, we could not get it running again. I would definitely recommend the fan over the laptop,In sum, there is a good sized central fan. It is powered via usb (laptop). The bowed shape leaves an aik cushion so heat does not build up against the surface, but the laptop balances on the edge of the pad, making it awkward to use if it is not sitting on a solid surface. Maybe not the best choice for mobile use, but good on a desk or table.

Decent laptop cooler for a decent price
I bought this while it was greatly on sale before Christmas, and I have to say I am glad. I definitely wouldn't pay full price for it, or even the current sale prices, but it is a decent laptop cooler. I like the rubber grips that keep my laptop from sliding off the cooling pad. The fan seems to do its job, although sometimes I get the feeling that it gets tired and slows down. I simply unplug it and plug it back in, and it seems to go faster afterward. I can tell that the fan starts to slow down because my laptop starts to get hot again. One thing I really dislike about this cooling pad is that as long as it is plugged in, it keeps running, even if the laptop hibernates. My last cooling pad would turn off when my laptop would hibernate. The main reason I dislike this feature is that there have a been a few times when I forgot it was plugged in (it is pretty quiet) and my laptop was not charging so the cooling pad actually caused my laptop to shut down due to low battery. Overall, though, I believe it does its job and I am glad I paid a decent price for it.

Laptop Cooling Fan
This cooling fan works well--you can hear it running, but I can't say that it is loud. The one thing I must say is that it tilts upwards toward you with a plastic lever on the bottom of the stand and the lever never wants to stay up especially if you try to move the computer at all. So that's frustrating. As long as the computer is stationary and I'm typing, the stand is fine, it's just when you go to move it that's a problem. The fan works fine, it plugs into your laptop using the USB port so have to make sure you have an open port. My ports are one on top of another so I can't plug in my cricket wireless air card and the fan at the same time. They don't fit. So I mainly use this when I'm not using my air card. I think it is more the shape of the air card though that makes it difficult. I can plug in my speakers and my cooling fan together and that works well. Overall, it's an ok product, I probably would have returned it because I don't like the way the stand sits, but I was too lazy to do it.

It's Good and Bad
This product has its good and bad points....the one I have now is the second one....the first one lasted 2 weeks before the motor stopped suddenly....I have been a little afraid to plug the new one in for fear that lightning will strike twice...however, te design of the acutal pad is great...the way it curves allows for my laptop to rest comfortably and for the computer fans to work properly, so the cooling pads fans are really not needed...even though te Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad did not really impress me...what did impress me the most was Amazon.com....when I contacted them when my product initally broke...they were GREAT about replacing it...no questions, no hassels...I wish other companies were so easy to deal with....Amazon.com as far as I am concerned get 5+ stars even though the product itself only got 3 stars....Thanks Amazon.com for being such a great site....you have a customer for life.

Does what it should
It's definitely keeping my laptop cool! I ordered this when my laptop overheated. It works far better than the cheap fan I bought before which broke over a year ago after just a few months of use. The curved design definitely seems to make a difference in the air flow - I can feel it blowing if I hold my hands 6 inches away from the sides of my laptop. It seems fairly durable and I've been dragging it along to work with me in a backpack. The cord folds into the back, and the piece that covers it while it's in there folds out to become the back feet to hold it still. It also has rubberized strips on the top and bottom on the side that faces your laptop and it's doing a great job of holding my laptop in place. It has a noticeable noise, but nothing too annoying. Less than a small fan in the summer and almost completely unnoticeable if there is a fan running, but loud enough that you know it's on. The usb cord is short, and I would like if it was slightly longer. It comes right out of the back, so if your usb ports are on the front of your laptop (which I think is a stupid design but some have that, apparently!) it may not reach. Plugs in and it's on, no on/off switch. The cord folds back into it so I'm not worried about ripping it out of the back when I throw it in my backpack. If it lasts, it's well worth the approx. $20 price. I've been using it for about a month and I use my laptop for at least 6 hours a day, every day. Keeps it cool no matter how long I'm using it.

efficac ventilator
It is a very good ventilator, that makes well its job. It isn't heavy. It makes a constant fan noise, but is constant and not too loud, so you get used to it. In the class room, I don't hear it.The cable is easy to put inside. One thing: such as it needs air, and put your computer higher, it takes more place in my bag that I thought. For the price I recommend it!I receive it quickly, within the time they told me.

Not right for me
The Belkin F5I001 Laptop Cooling Pad, was not well suited to me ...It caused my laptop to be uncomfortably high. The design of the USB cable was poor in my opinion, and it was too short. The cover for the USB cable, needed to remain open to prevent the cable from being pressed, essentially causing the laptop to be too high. The dimensions of the item was not available beforehand.
