Really nice item
A really nice item looks great and if your soft travelling nice to fill in in your hotel or villa room. Personally I don't think it would stand up to my sort of travel though. Really great if your just holidaying in hotels and villas and a wine spill is your biggest danger, but if your really roughing it this will not be surviving the trip without some serious damage. Sent mine back and just ordered the Seawhite portrait sketchbook, cheaper with 140gsm paper and from experience I know these can really take some rough travel.

Affordable sketchbook and decent quality for daily sketching!
A good sketchbook for a small, affordable price! Contains a nice pocket inside the back cover, an elastic band that you can use to keep it closed/hold pages down, a book mark thread (this can fall out of some books, and I either tape it back in or leave it be)Shipping is quick though comes wrapped in a plastic film (product is always like this though- not just on amazon so hey ho!)Good for different media, preferably for dry-ish media like;-Pencil (coloured pencils might struggle to get into the paper as it's quite smooth)-Pen, markers & ink (these will bleed through)-Pastels.Watercolour, acrylic and gouache will be fine/alright. Watercolour might bleed through if it's been dug over and over into the paper and it isn't as vibrant/isn't absorbed as well as it would on real watercolour paper- but still does the job for sketches and the like!Oils will need paper prepared beforehand (obviously) and need to have some sort of paper (tissue/greaseproof) to keep it from sticking to other pages or rubbing off - same for pastels, acrylics and pencils.

Great quality paper, great for stretching, doodles, and pen drawings (not tried with felt pens). Book feels like it will last the test of time.

Disappointed
I don't usually leave reviews but felt the need on this occasion. Purchased the a5 journal on recommendations online. My journal arrived with what I can only describe as a torn inner cover as though a sticker had been pulled tearing the paper. I returned the item and was refunded. I purchased a second one and the first 2 pages are embossed with what I can only describe as a diamond pattern on the paper. Decided to keep because the paper is nice to draw on but disappointed in manufacturing faults

Superb General Sketchbook
This is a surperb cartridge paper sketchbook. Well made, takes fountain pen ink very well with no feathering. The paper is much better than the paper in moleskine notebooks, which you can see any mark through, and at a third of the price. The binding is really tough and the cover is very classy. Plus at A5 it is a proper size. I will be using these from now on. Much better alround sketch book than any of the competition. Has a tooth for pencil and carbon pencil. Pental brush pen did not feather at all and did not bleed through even with a heavy block application, and the tooth allowed some nice drybrush effects. The binding easily allow full spread sketchs easily. The cartridge paper takes watercolour as well as the Seawhite chunky square sketchbooks, which is pretty good so a certain amout of mixing on the paper is possible. Too much scrubbing with the brush will scruff the surface and the paper will cockle a bit. But it is only a cartridge paper after all, and despite this my washes were not showing through on the other side.As a general take everywhere sketchbook this is the best there is for price performance ratio. Ill be buying loads more of these in various sizes. Great product, great value. Which is what I have come to expect from Seawhite.

Exceeded expectation
I am new to sketching and so wanted a fairly reasonable but good quality sketchbook to start so after reading other reviews of all the ones available on amazon decided to go with this on. Not disappointed, the hardcover is sturdy and the paper is off white, which I like, and thick enough for perhaps a very light watercolour wash. Not tried that yet but so far its good paper for fineliner pens and colour pencils. Will more than likely buy again once I've finished this one.

Nice thick, high quality paper
Nice thick, high quality paper. Works well with my Lami pens in various tips and inks, as well as my very fine tipped Hi-Tec-C Maica pens. No feathering, no bleedthrough. The paper is a natural white (which means it won't be optically brightened, and will appear a little dull compared to other bleached papers). The cover is a nice leather-like texture and sturdy. You could probably do pencil as well as pen and inkwash sketches in here without a problem. If you kept the washes light, you could easily use both sides (as long as the ink was not alcohol ink). It's definitely not watercolor paper, so it will not behave like watercolor paper. However, it could probably sustain light watercolor washes, if you worked quickly, and on one side. The binding is tight, but the book lies flat--so you don't see the binding for the most part. I may purchase again in the future, just for general sketching, and maybe to attempt some light art journaling. Currently I use it for notes, quotes, and practicing my lettering, and it's working just fine.

Great sketchbook for sketching or light water-based paint work
This is a great little sketchbook. I researched for ages, trying to find a sketchbook with a decent number of pages that could be used for watercolours/gouache as well as feeling relatively smooth for pencil work, and I'm glad that this is the one I landed on. I get the feeling that intensive wet work might cause the paper to shred a bit, but for light watercolour it's perfect. Great price as well.
