Looks smart and works great
I bought this to hook up with my Garmin 610 watch - it took me a while to find out via internet searching that you pair the two together by pressing the light button (top left) on the 610 once and waiting a few seconds. Apart from the lack of instructions it does exactly what it says on the tin. It allows me to view weight and bf on my 610, when I upload my data to garmin connect the other 9 indicators measured by the scales goes with it for review online.Ignore the reviews based on requiring a separate viewing display @ £100+. Yes if you do not have another device such as a Garmin (or I believe it will also work with iphones & ipads etc) you will need one, but this is made pretty clear in the product description, if you’re silly enough to buy something that costs nearly £200 without even looking at what you’re actually buying then that’s your own fault!

So that's how fat I was...
A year ago, nerve and lower back problems returned which prevented me from working out as much as before. As such, after a year of a near sedentary lifestyle I watched my fat pockets grow and knew that my weight was up. I recently started on the Vemma Bode weight loss program and wanted something to help me get metrics for my progress. Since I had the Garmin Edge 800 and knew that I was able to start training, but less intensely again, I went for a scale that could provide me with solid metrics.Despite the first weigh-in being, yup I'm fat and heavy again, having reliable numbers for weight, fat, bone & muscle mass, etc. help me better understand which parts of my diets and exercise are working. If you just want to know your weight and body fat without tracking, then buy a cheaper unit. However, if you want metrics for tracking, this unit is a great one to have.Do note that you need to have or purchase a display or ANT+ device to use the scale. That's why I only give 4 stars. $ 250 for a piece of tech without a few dollar LCD is dumb. However, outside of no display, the scale is solid and consistently works.Speaking of consistency, for the metrics to be reliable, you need to be consistent about when you measure yourself. Pick early morning or just before bed, not after exercising. Sure those post exercise numbers are awesome looking, but reality is morning is probably more truthful.Good luck with your training, Ciao!

Great device. Little expensive
Works well with the garmin forerunner 210. Seems to be fairly reliable thought now and again I do get an anomalous result even when taking readings as close to the same time of day. Great for monitoring progress though.

Exact, but data connections are confusing
The product is exact, I love it. It comes with the Healthy Edge software, where all the confusions starts.1. BC1000 is sending data to your sport device (310XT, 910XT) after measurement2. Healthy Edge is receiving data from the BC1000 within the plugged but disabled ANT agent after another measurement.3. When enabling the ANT agent and sending the measurement to Garmin Connnect, this transfer is recorded in Healthy Egde as well, as separate measurement.4. Healthy Edge is then sending all measurements to your defined Tanita account.Healthy Edge is a stupid software, which does not allow you to define the decimal separator, like for example Excel does.It will only work, if your decimal separator is dot. If using comma, it won't start up...

I'm glad I have the other items for it
This thing is hilarious, so many of my times have friends and family used my bathroom to tell me that my scales are broken because it doesn't do anything. I'm glad I have the other items for it.

Not for me
This is one of the most frustrating products I have ever bought. First the instructions on the CD are useless. Sometimes that is the case even with a good product. When it did blink into life it took literally hours to pair properly with my Garmin 900XT. Pairing fell in and out even at 7 feet or less. Then when it did pair the reading was laughably out (I weighed a third of what I should have). So redid weight on various surfaces with and without soft carpets etc as instructed ...nowhere near correct readings. Then it failed to pair again, then it locked up my Garmin watch and then I lost the will.... Back to good old fashioned scales that will not tell me body composition but at least don't give me blood pressure problems.

Doesn't interface easily with MAC
More complicated than I though. Doesn't interface easily with MAC. Overall just hard work. But it is cool when it does work.
