The best hay in the world
I've been using Oxbow products for nearly 20 years. I have 5 house rabbits and a guinea pig and it's very important to me that they eat top quality food and hay and products that do them good. Hay is a vital part of rabbits and guinea pigs diets. Rabbits are supposed to eat their size in hay per day and a hay based diet supplemented with fresh vegetables and a good pellet food is a natural and healthy diet. Rabbits teeth are constantly growing and hay is a good way for rabbits to gently wear their teeth down. Most cheap shop bought hays are very poor quality and suitable only for bedding. Oxbow offers a variety of hays, each different. The Orchard Grass hay is generally a softer hay than the others. Depending on which cut it is, this hay can be very soft to a slightly harder hay. Bunnies with dental issues often struggle to eat hay, but this softer hay means that most of my dental buns have enjoyed it. It smells delicious and for me that is a sign of a good quality hay. I wouldn't feed my animals hay that had no smell - it's a bit like strawberries. Strawberries that smell yummy taste much nicer than those with no fragrance. In all the years I've had bunnies and guinea pigs, Orchard Grass has always been a favourite.

Good hay overall
This is my bunny's favourite, so I order it every month. However, I believe it is overpriced.Once, there was a part of a dead animal that probably got into the hay during the harvest. It was very upsetting. I would expect them to ensure that the hay is clean and hygienic before packaging it.

My rabbits love this !
Well it's not me but it's my rabbits that love this stuff also the Timothy Hay from Oxbow, I have always got what I thought was the best quality hay for the rabbits knowing that this is really important in their diet as it should account for the highest portion of their diet more than rabbit food. However as I was needing hay and after reading up on how much percentage wise that rabbits should eat I realised mine weren't so after reading reviews decided to give it a go and glad I did. Ok its not the cheapest but they devour it, more than they ever did with all the other brands I tried. What I would say is that it is slightly thicker rougher if that's the right thing to say compared to other hay, not sure if that's because its from the USA compared to hay from the UK however that doesn't stop them from eating it and boy do the girls do.I got the Orchard which is slightly finer and the Timothy hay from Oxbow and give these both daily. It is one purchase I don't regret and will be buying it again.

Great but a tad expensive for quantity involved.
Hugely expensive but high quality product. Buns were not immediately taken with it but are tolerating small doses.

The best Hay out there in my opinion
Wonderful seller, brilliant value, and my fussy former non-hay eating bunnies absolutely love it. It is extremely low on dust so stops those horrible sneezes and nose/airway problems. It is like normal grass hay as opposed to the big thick Timothy stuff that my bunnies would not touch. Lovely sweet smell and beautifully green. Oxbow products are some of the best on the market for bunnies. My vets love them and I highly recommend.

Guineas favourite!
UPDATE: November 2024They still love it & the guinea pigs are fan favourites. My Guinea pigs love this hay! I’m allergic to Timothy hay and used to use gloves to handle the hay and was looking for an alternative. Right from the first day my two Guinea pigs adored this hay and jump right into the pile as soon as I put fresh down. They sleep in it and play etc. Not had a problem with quality, bags do vary slightly but it general are consistently excellent. The only issue is recently it’s been hard to get hold of and not delivered with my subscribe and save order.

Whilst it looks lovely it offers no variety and is lacking in firm parts for their teeth.
I really wanted to like this but sadly neither my piggies nor rabbits did.Good points: The two bags I tried were a lovely green colour and honestly looked very uniform and soft, the smell it did have was fresh. It appeared to be lovely thick quality grass that had been dried. There was no dust or any other flowers, herbs, dandelions, types of grass etc.Bad points: The smell in both packs was very gentle and hard to detect compared to some. My rabbits normally come running when they smell hay they didnt seem to notice this. Whilst uniform and soft the fact it all one type of soft grass meant their was no depth of textures or flavours for them, so they got bored straight away. Also worryingly without the firmer stalks they will not be getting the essential wear their teeth need from the 'heartier' parts of hay. Overall my buns and pigs completely ignored this as food but did sleep on it. But my bunnys generally prefer firmer hay to be fair.If it was cheap I would have brought it for a base, for foraging and bedding for my guinea pigs and rabbits as it was lovely and soft thus acting as a back up rather than their main source of hay but at over £9 per kilo as opposed to £2 at the lower end and c.4-5 for some fantastic quality hays it is insanely overpriced and just not affordable when it will be used as bedding. It might be great for some animals who need a softer more 'subtle' hay but it didnt offer enough scent to entice them offered no flavour or variety and not enough firmer parts for their teeth.

Smells very fresh
My 5 year old piggy was very poorly and not eating hay. Online it said Orchard hay is recommended for elderly guinea pigs. Smelt fabulous. Aroma filled the room. Piggy loves it. Prefers it I think to her usual quality brand hay.
